Today we read some familiar verses from the book of Matthew in the way Jesus has read them and spoken them: Jesus is God. He is the Word. Jesus is the Son of God. He is the King. Where He is there the Kingdom of Heaven is. Jesus has the final say on who will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus has the authority to forgive sins. When Jesus sends you (His disciple) out you don’t worry as He will ensure His Spirit fills and guides you even in the toughest situation! Jesus has given a blanket covering for everyone who represents Him: the same privilege as Jesus (and God). Jesus can choose to whom He wants to reveal God. But the Good News is: He invites all to come to Him, especially if you are weary and carry heavy burdens of life. He has the last words.
“Come to Me, and I will give you rest.” This is an open invitation to all who want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. No time limit until Jesus returns.
12:13 “So you, too, much keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of My return.” No one knows when Jesus will return.
Last words: Matthew 28:18-20 After the resurrection of Jesus
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,
‘People do not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
7 Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’”
The Good News is : For Christ has already accomplished. This is real to everyone who believes. This blogger has personally received healing and deliverance supernaturally through the Holy Spirit (the Spirit who gives life -resurrection power of God who works in and toward those who believe) in Christ Jesus. The birth of Jesus was a supernatural event. The death and resurrection of Jesus was a supernatural event. God is above nature. In fact, God is the Creator who created nature on earth. In this season of advent, we remember the supernatural God who accomplished a supernatural act through which mankind benefits: redemption of lives and healing of their bodies and souls just as their spirits prosper through the rebirth given by the Holy Spirit.
Romans 10:1-12 New Living Translation (NLT)
10 Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved. 2 I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. 3 For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law. 4 For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.
Salvation Is for Everyone
5 For Moses writes that the law’s way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands. 6 But faith’s way of getting right with God says, “Don’t say in your heart, ‘Who will go up to heaven?’ (to bring Christ down to earth).7 And don’t say, ‘Who will go down to the place of the dead?’ (to bring Christ back to life again).” 8 In fact, it says,
“The message is very close at hand;
it is on your lips and in your heart.”
And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” 12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him.
