This is a letter to those who are facing the tormentor called ‘pain’.
Dear ones: Pain is a personal experience. Although we have learned through specialized studies how and why it functions, we cannot really control pain. Because my late mother suffered bad pains in her hip joint in her old age, the doctors prescribed pain killers and other medicine to control the side effects of the pain killers, resulting that she had to take a lot of medication daily. At that time I was not aware of using prayers to control pain and suffering. So I switched from being a banker (for two decades) and did a post graduate (Master of Science) degree on community health administration and wellness promotion, including detailed study and research on the scientific causes of diseases (physiological and mental), and treatments, and how to give health care and preventive health care, including healthy aging. The first thesis I chose to undertake was on a study on “managing pain”. I chose subjects that explain diseases and symptoms, and various forms of treatment and their efficacy. I was also able to study various research papers on the power of prayers and church attendance on the management and recovery from medical conditions. My focus was to prevent diseases and suffering by whatever means!
While in the process of studying, and after the study and completion of my academic venture, I concluded that there was really no 100% effective human way to control and eliminate pain. It was indeed very sad that during my mother’s last few years of life on earth I could not help her and the pain killers and other medication were harmful and caused her unnecessary side effects and sufferings.
At a time when I witnessed the increase of young children in churches suffering from autism and conditions along the continuum thereof, I was introduced to Christian healing testimonies by people divinely healed of various diseases and conditions. I went to those places and personally investigated, read up and studied, to verify whether the claims were true, and I even practiced the divine treatment on myself. The testimonies of others and the Bible based teachings convince me. I have witnessed and been personally healed, without any form of Western or Eastern medicines and medical or alternative (diets, gadgets, herbs, portions etc.) treatments for about eleven years. My personal divine healing covers both physiological illnesses that required chronic medication for decades, and physical injuries due to at least seven serious falls, even an emergency incident of a dog bite that resulted in blood gushing from deep incisions.
I have discovered that God’s way of healing is the way for me to sustain health and healing. It means living by faith on God’s words (including reading, listening, proclaiming, prayers, praise and worship as led by the Holy Spirit, based on God’s words). In another word, it is living and walking by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in my healing journey.
The first breakthrough came when I was baptized with the Holy Spirit. There was no physical dramatic manifestation, except for the supernatural manifestation of Romans 5:5 wherein the Holy Spirit poured God’s love on me and soaked me during an ordinary Charismatic Sunday meeting. But after that supernatural encounter, my spiritual eyes are open and I developed a deep passion for reading God’s words. When I later encountered further the reality of God (through the power of the Holy Spirit) in signs and visions and dreams, I gained more revelation and understanding of what the words of God really mean. There has been indeed a transformation for me to perceive the unseen realm. I am led to live a spiritual life in the kingdom of God just as Jesus has promised. Physically this means I can use the authority of the name of Jesus effectively over my pains and other physiological conditions. Mentally it means I can similarly speak God’s words to pull down the lies and deceptions such as unbelief, discouragement, depressive and oppressive thoughts in my mind (as soon as they occur).
Spiritually it further means I can relate closely to God in my personal daily living, worship and praise and prayers, often in the Spirit (including singing in the Spirit). My whole life has been transformed, body, soul (mind and emotion) and aligning with my born again spirit, which is joined to the Lord, one Spirit with the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:17). The more I learn to live this God’s way (wherein God’s words are life and spirit), the more I walk in divine health and fitness.
Today I am living a life of total wellness: healthy and fit life. I have weaned myself off a lot of modern amenities (including bag full of medicines which I relied on for decades) and I can travel to places where I would have avoided previously due to the lack of many physical ‘comfort’. I continue to give thanks every meal for the renewal of my youth, as in Psalm 103:5. I received a fresh revelation on this “renewal of youth” two days ago (on Oct 28, 2020) during my daily partaking of the bread and drink from the fruit of the vine, signifying the body of Jesus and the blood of Jesus (the Holy Communion). I shall write on this revelation in details, including a medical scientific fact on this supernatural alignment, in a later blog. (You may subscribe to this free health blog so that you will read of the next blog from the WordsPress Reader notification section or through email).
My healed and renewed life is like living my real life again. This time it is the real more abundant life that Jesus has given.
I pray you, too, my sisters (and brothers), will experience the same freedom as I do.
(Revised on October 30, 2020. This blog was first written and posted on October 17, 2014)
I decide to post this powerful testimony of a Christian sister who has been healed of her 14 years of depression because I believe this will help someone out there. The sister went through long term pharmacotherapy and even electroconvulsive therapy at a stage. Her first breakthrough came in 2010 when she encountered Jesus and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. At a crucial point in 2013 she was introduced to God’s words and soaked herself in them. In the first month she merely listened without any understanding. In the second month her mind suddenly cleared up and she began to receive the revelation of God’s love and unconditional acceptance for her. After that she continued to progress and applied what she has learned until her restoration to complete health. She is now totally healed and whole, served in a mission field for two years and is recently happily married! She speaks in clear, fluent English and a pastor/Bible teacher translated into mandarin at the same time.

Imagine a woman who is healed of cancer in her ovary, uterus, brain, bones, lungs and lymph nodes all within a year, and she did not suffer any side-effect of the chemotherapy? This is her testimony!
The following is my translation of sister Sue’s (phonic name) testimony (with minor excerpting from a very lengthy detailed testimony in another language). She was found to have cancer in many parts of her body in early 2003 and she was healed of all of them by October the same year! She gave the following testimony in 2016 and continues to enjoy the cancer-free life with her family —an abundant life that Jesus has promised every believer, in spirit, soul and body!
SISTER SUE’S TESTIMONY
Mental (spiritual) preparation
At the beginning of 2003, a day after I attended a three-day seminar in the church, a great change occurred in my heart. Suddenly, memories of many long-forgotten past events appeared vividly… all triggered my deep review and reflection. I sincerely confessed and repented to God of the past mistakes as revealed daily, and felt that my soul is being constantly washed and purified by the Lord. My Christian belief changed from being mere attending lively church activities to being honestly and seriously facing my true situation before God.
Accidentally uncovered cancer
Just a month after my mindset and life changes, my lungs were X-rayed due to asthma , and a small blister was found in my liver. The prudent family doctor arranged for me to have a further ultrasound examination.
During the examination, the examiner accidentally found a huge tumor in my ovary that had extended to the liver, but I was unaware of it. I was immediately arranged for operation by specialist doctor. Two weeks later, the 10×16 cm tumor, the size of a cantaloupe, was removed together with my ovary and uterus. The doctor found malignant cancer cells in the excised tumor, but at that time the doctor judged that the cancer cells might not have spread.
Blessing in disguise
After the operation, one day my husband was driving and listening to a Christian radio. Suddenly he heard a song he had never heard before and the lyrics were quoted from Jeremiah 29:11: “The Lord said:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This song deeply touched his heart, he knew that God was speaking to him. Indeed, this verse has also become a sure strength for his heart when our family goes through perilous situations later. Brothers and sisters in several churches prayed for me urgently. A sister received this for me: “Jehovah blesses you fully.” After I was discharged from the hospital, in the first service at another church the first hymn the pastor announced was, “The end is not yet.” Indeed, the subsequent waves of “blessings” followed one after another….
Metastatic cancer spread to the brain
Less than a month after the abdominal surgery, I was hospitalized again due to persistent vomiting. My husband and daughter found that my conversational response was somewhat abnormal. E.g. when a medical staff asked me questions in English, I answered in Mandarin; when it was time to speak Mandarin, I responded in English. Through the computer tomography scan, the doctor surprisingly discovered a tumor in my brain, which oppressed the Central Nervous System, causing me to vomit and having abnormal speech.
So that night, an emergency operation was performed, and the neurosurgeon removed two tumors of 4 cm and 1 cm in diameter from my brain. The risk of this operation is extremely high, and a slight error may impair future speech and mobility. Thank God for keeping me safe. When my husband came to see me in the recovery room the next morning, I was sitting on the bed eating a sandwich for breakfast, which surprised him. At dusk, I transferred to the general ward. The night of the operation happened to be Good Friday. Two days later on Easter morning, when the warm sunlight shone from the window onto my body, I had a feeling: It is done! I am already healed!
Just after the head surgery. (April 2003)
At the same time, all the worries and burdens that have been accumulated in my life since I was a child seemed to have been cut off along with the malignant tumor on my body. Because I realized that, no matter how much I had worried and planned (for my life), I had never expected that I would suffer from cancer. But the Father God has taken charge of all these, revealing and removing the cancers in ways that I did not expect. This allowed me to return to the innocence of a child, to rest completely in the arms of the Heavenly Father, to enjoy his intimate and sweet love, and to stop worrying about the future. The Bible is like a brand-new book full of surprises, which deeply attracts my eagerness to read. My heart is always filled with praise, love, gratitude, thirst and worship for the Lord.
Receive radiation therapy
After the brain surgery, I received radiotherapy on the head for another two weeks. The doctor frankly told us that the survival rate of patients with brain tumors is generally not high, and there is no big difference between having or not having radiotherapy. But because my brain tumors are more concentrated on one location and I have greater hope of healing, I decided to accept radiotherapy for reinforcement. After the radiotherapy, I started to lose my hair.
During this time, the church has been praying for me. A sister whom I don’t know very well called to comfort my daughter not to worry, because when the church prayed for me, a phrase appeared in her heart: “Woman, you are free from this disease!” I thought to myself: “Lord! Thank you for comforting me through this sister, but can you please tell me again in person?”
Soon, when I was waiting for radiotherapy, I picked up the Bible to read, and suddenly I was prompted in my heart: “Chapter 13!” But there are 66 books in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. Which book’s Chapter 13? Unexpectedly, when I opened my Bible, it happened to be Luke chapter 13. When I came to verse 12, it said, “When Jesus saw her, he called out to her, “Woman, you are free from your sickness!” Thank God, He personally reaffirmed to me His promise of healing.
Metastatic cancer spread to the pelvis
A month later, through CT scan and bone scan, the doctor was surprised to find that there was a tumor with a diameter of 4.8 cm on my pelvis. The attending physician said that ovarian cancer rarely spreads to the bones; a female physician who consulted also said that she had only seen two or three such cases in 25 years of medical practice. This tumor seemed to have existed for a long time. Because it compressed the muscles and nerves around the hip joint, and caused me to have frequent back pain and hip joint pain for many years. So I received a two-week local radiation therapy.
Metastatic cancer spread to the lungs and lymph
Soon, due to my constant coughing, the doctor discovered that the cancer cells had spread to the lungs and lymph nodes, and the swelling of the lymph nodes in the neck and behind the ears was clearly palpable. So I decided to receive a monthly chemotherapy, a total of six times. Each drop injection took about five hours.
God’s grace and supernatural protection from the unwanted effects of the chemotherapy
Anyone facing chemotherapy will immediately think of many painful side effects such as vomiting, oral ulcers, loss of appetite, weakened immune resistance. But when I was halfway through the first chemotherapy, I felt hungry and asked my husband to buy me a rich lunch. When the nurse came in and saw me eating and drinking with relish while taking the drop injection, she was surprised and asked where my husband had bought the meal. She also wanted to buy one set!
After the chemotherapy, I went home and slept. I woke up sweating profusely, my cough disappeared completely, and I felt relax all over after taking a bath. At that instant a church sister who worked in a pharmacy called and asked me cautiously whether I felt alright after the chemotherapy. I said, I feel comfortable all over. When she heard that, she cried loudly on the other end of the phone: “Father! How much I want to thank you. I have never heard a patient say that after chemotherapy, she feels comfortable all over. How you have favored our sister!” She told me that they can recognize any chemotherapy patients in the pharmacy by their haggard look first, and then confirm by their prescription. But I didn’t have any side effects. What a grace of God!
Blood test result AFTER each chemotherapy showed that the number of red blood cells and white blood cells remained the same as BEFORE the chemotherapy.
During the chemotherapy, my appetite and sleep were wonderful; the cough and thigh pain caused by the tumor disappeared, and my walking became more and more vigorous. The body feels refreshed and being reborn.
God really granted the prayer request from brothers and sisters in Christ, “Please let the chemotherapy only kill cancer cells, and not harm any normal cells.”
He also reminded me of His promises: ” 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name…and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”.” (Mark 16:17-18)
The tumor disappeared completely, certified completely healed!
Prior the last chemotherapy at the end of 2003, the doctor performed a computer tomography scan of my whole body and found that all the cancers in my body had disappeared. The shadows on the lungs and trachea are gone, the tumors on the pelvis are gone, and new bones have grown to fill the holes left by the tumors.
My cancer doctor is a very kind old doctor. He was very excited to see the wonderful changes in my body. He said that the treatment effect far exceeded his best expectations. He has practiced medicine for 35 years and diagnosed tens of thousands of cancer patients, but this case shocked him in many ways. He admits that he can no longer rely on the years of experience and professional practices in the past, and must be humble for new learning. I told him that this was because of the intervention of God’s grace—God has answered the prayers of many people.
My attending physician was very happy every time I returned to the clinic for regular check-up. (October 2004)
Until now (January 2016), my health has been very good. Every time I return to the clinic, the attending physician is very happy. He said he has nothing to do except for the routine checkup. After the last check-up in February 2011, the physician told me that there is no need to return to the clinic anymore.
Prophecy fulfilled after 34 years of accepting Jesus
This experience reminded me of the scriptures that moved and convicted me to accept the Lord Jesus 34 years ago:
” But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. 3 For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;. “(Isaiah 43:1～3a)
The verses are really the best portrayal of what I went through. I am surprised that when I first met Him when I was young, the Lord foretold the miracles that I would experience in 34 years.
Some people think that I must have a strong will to survive, or an extraordinary courage, to overcome the disease, but it’s not at all. I don’t have a trace of courage or strength myself. I just feel that I have never enjoyed such a deep relaxation, comfort and tranquility in my life, as if I was on vacation without feeling sick.
This is like in the third chapter of the book of Daniel in the Bible, the three friends of the prophet Daniel were thrown into the fiery furnace by the king of Babylon. However, because of God’s protection, not only did they not get hurt, they didn’t even smell of fire. The ropes that bound them were all burned up.
This is how God has kept me safe for the nine months of treatment, and at the same time burned all the chains that have bound me for many years. They include doubts about God, unbelief, ungenerous toward others, jealousy, stinginess, criticism, complaints, unforgiveness, and self-conceit, inferiority, self-pity, selfishness… Not only did I regain a healthy body, I regained the opportunity to reconcile and fellowship with relatives and friends. Most importantly: I have regained my relationship with God (knowledge of God) and experienced His wonder, greatness, mercy, loving kindness, acceptance, and holiness… and a completely changed new heart. I have truly experienced “the full Jehovah’s blessings” after all.
I am infinitely grateful for the many blessings I have received along this journey. I have personally experienced that by simply trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ, He can surely open a way out for those who pray for Him regardless how desperate your situation may seem.
The Lord not only healed my body, but also awoke my soul, to see my past ignorance: taking longevity and health for granted, always worrying about all the temporal things, labor and sorrow all day long, not knowing my own Life is so fragile, and that it may leave this world at any time. By then, all the wealth, reputation, status, or honor and disgrace, success or failure, gains and losses, would mean nothing to me. What can protect me and make me face eternity calmly?
He made me understand that my daily life is shaping my future in eternity, and what values in the eternal is being intimately close to the loving heavenly Father, holding his hand tightly, and living each day that he has given me according to his will.
Sister Sue’s invitation to every reader of this testimony:
If you too are willing to accept the salvation and peace of Jesus Christ and become a child of God, please pray to Him now:
“Lord Jesus! Please save me! Help me know you!”
He will answer your prayer because the Bible promises us:
“For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: ” (John 1:12) In the future, He will also bring us into His eternal Kingdom of Light.
(The end of the testimony)
Our Lord and Savior Jesus came to this world and achieved two most important human needs: salvation and healing. We pray that you will be healed too as you receive faith through reading the following powerful testimony of a healed sister in Christ.
Note: I want to give credit to sister Sue for her healed testimony, which I believe would help transform the situations of many who believe. I also thank those who made her testimony available online in its original language.

The watchman recently suffered an acute and painful attack on his back and could hardly lie on his bed or rise after he lied down. He reached a point when he dreaded sleeping as it would involve lying down in excruciating pain and thereafter getting up with the same suffering. He was deprived of sleep and rest.
He was then urged by someone to read a testimony about a man encountering a severe motor accident wherein he broke four bones at different parts of his body and was bleeding and in shock when he was brought to the church. He lived divine and did not take medicine or use any medical facilities.The watchman actually had seen this man a few days after the accident as he happened to attend a seminar at that same church. The man recovered totally without any treatment except prayers…
Be open to this: the benefits of partaking the body and blood of our Lord as often as you can!
God is a covenant God. He keeps covenant. Jesus commanded us to have Holy Communion with Him. He specifically told the disciples that “this is the blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many, for the remission of sin.”
This is a covenant. God remembers covenant. Every time believers take the bread and the cup, proclaiming the death of Jesus, they are affirming the covenant with God and His terms of the covenant! How great and good our God is in instituting this Holy Communion! It is definitely a crucial and powerful prophetic act to keep proclaiming the Lord’s death until He comes!
JESUS SHED HIS BLOOD FOR MANY TO ENTER THE NEW COVENANT. Only those under the New Covenant have the right and ability to be free from the grips of the enemy of God, the thief who came to steal, kill and destroy health, family and relationship, financial wellbeing, and all aspects of life. It means restoration of all that the enemy had stolen or destroyed. This also means healing of all your diseases and restoration of full health!
Why should Christians take the Holy Communion as often as possible? Because Jesus specifically says so and the apostles and disciples follow and obey. I believe Jesus (and Paul’s faithfully applying what Jesus has taught)) would not have told His disciples to do something just for human sentiment. It is too important to be treated like an ordinary human ritual or sentimental thing. I believe there is a powerful spiritual significance in partaking the Holy Communion. That is why the early church faithfully carried out daily! There are many witnesses getting miraculously healed of even terminal illnesses!
Every Christian must know and acknowledge that there is no way one can reach God except through the blood of Jesus on the cross. Not preaching the cross (and the blood of the Lamb of God), even not taking the Holy Communion often, have placed church members at a very vulnerable position. Not knowing and acknowledging the spiritual implication means they have no defense against the attack of the enemy. Jesus commanded His followers to partake the Holy Communion as often as they did. In addition, the Holy Spirit (through Apostle Paul) further explained in 1 Co.11:26 ” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, youproclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” Not discerning the Lord’s body (and His complete salvation) resulted that many were weak, sick and many even died.
The enemies know the power in the blood. The Bible recorded pagan worshippers sacrificed their animals and even their sons and daughters to their gods. And in one instance the children of Israel who were winning the war were spiritually held back and had to stop pursuing their enemy because the enemy’s king sacrificed his own eldest son. (The Bible describes how King Mesha of Moab sacrificed his crown prince to avert a military disaster 2 Kings 3:27.)
Unbelievers suffer sickness and die before due time because they do not know or believe in Jesus and accept His salvation. But Christians have believed and accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. There is no meaning for Christians to die before your appointed time. You are to live a more than conqueror’s life, accomplishing all that the Lord has assigned to you according to His will, so why not come to the Lord’s table in the worthy manner (with full appreciation and recognition of what He has accomplished for you and receive with thanksgiving and by faith)?
Abide in Him: John 6:53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. John 6:54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. John 6:56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
His Blood is life: Genesis 9:4 “But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.”
God now has a sole claim on us: God has purchased the church (all believers) with His Son’s blood Acts 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
The Holy Communion’s true meaning: The Covenant 1 Corinthians 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 1 Corinthians 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
Hebrews 2:14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
Jesus’ blood is God’s witness: 1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.
Overcoming requires His blood: Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 19:13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
PROTECT YOUR HEALING To maintain healing or facilitate further healing, you must: Read, hear, meditate, and practice the Word as well as apply the blood on a daily Basis to spirit, soul, and body even after the healing manifests, in order to guard the healing and as a preventive measure. Surround yourself with positive, faith-speaking people, keep a radio tuned to a Christian station playing day and night, and listen to faithbuilding tapes. In other words, keep the Word of God always surrounding you. Attend church regularly to keep the Word alive and active in your spirit and to enjoy the fellowship of like-minded believers. Continue to constantly praise God for your healing. Continue not only to apply the blood but also to speak healing aloud to yourself because you believe what you say more than you believe what others tell you. Remind yourself that God wants you well, that you are healed by the stripes of Jesus, that Jesus sends His Word to heal: “…My word…that goes forth out of My mouth; it shall not return to Me void -without producing any effect, useless – but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11 AMP). Do not rely on feelings or focus on symptoms, but on God’s Word. Say aloud what God says about the situation as set forth in the healing Scriptures. Do not give up. Never give up. Remember that God wants you well. Stand in faith until the healing manifests. If you need someone to stand with you, find someone who has been healed, someone who has strong faith and ask that person to link his faith with yours. It is always a comfort and a help to have a strong believer standing by.
COMMON HINDRANCES TO HEALING Lack of Knowledge The Bible says that people “perish for lack of knowledge.” We must know what God says in His Word about healing. God says He is the Lord our God who heals us, that He “sent His Word and healed us.’” Unbelief Unbelief is a sin. The Bible tells us that God is “not a man that He should lie.” You must believe the Word of God. Unbelief is the only sin that will keep you out of Heaven. Unforgiveness You must be willing to let go of bitterness, anger and unforgiveness. Forgiveness is a decision, not an emotion. Confess forgiveness and the feeling will eventually come. Laziness You have to put forth an effort to obtain the promises and provisions of God. Be willing to spend time in the Word and in prayer. Confess – speak – the Word over your body and your life. Pride The Bible tells us that “the fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride, and arrogance, and the evil way.” A prideful, haughty attitude will block the healing power of God. Unconfessed Sin Be willing to search your heart and confess your sins and be cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb. Involvement in the Occult This is an abomination to God. You must renounce all ties with the occult (horoscopes, psychics, ouija boards, crystals, etc.) Negative Confessions You get what you say. Begin to say the same things about yourself that God’s Word says about you. Rather than talking all the negative things (the problem, the diagnosis, the symptoms, how you feel) begin to say, “by the stripes of Jesus I am healed.” – I believe I receive my healing! Waiting on physical evidence before you believe you are healed Remember that often things will appear to get worse as soon as you make a decision to believe God. The devil wants to discourage you and keep you from believing that God has already healed you. You must believe that you have received your healing and keep speaking it until it becomes real to you. Healing begins on the inside, in your spirit, and works its way to the outside – your body.

I waited for this book to be in print for quite sometime. It’s worth the waiting. It’s here now.
To encourage my readers to get this healing book and read, here are some excerpts and punch lines I received from reading the book. (This is entirely out of my personal initiative and personal view as a reader. Please do not quote me. Do read the original whole book and the context therein for yourselves.)
Foreword by Andrew Wommack (excerpts)
Healing is something that affects every single person on this planet. In this fallen world, we all deal with sickness and the devastation it brings. People spend billions of dollars on treatments and billions more trying to prevent sickness. Jesus purchased healing for our bodies just as much as He purchased the forgiveness of our sins. In this book Barry Bennett shares these basic truths about how to receive healing directly from God in such a practical way that you can’t miss it. This isn’t just theory with Barry. He has experienced miraculous healing himself and also in his family. Get ready to receive your healing and let that miraculous healing power flow through you to others.
Excerpts and punch lines from the Book: (Taken at random by this reader. Words in brackets are added by me)
There is grace for you to experience abundant life. Before you continue to read this book, I want you to know that Jesus cares for you and wants you well. God hates sickness. Much of Jesus’ ministry revolved around healing the sick. Allow hope to be born in your heart. The grace of God is bigger than any affliction or sickness you may be experiencing. Read and meditate on each truth presented in these pages. Believe that His Word is at work in you to set you free and heal you.
Chapter 1 Is healing for today?
It was in 1989, and my wife and I and our three children were living in…Guatemala, to study Spanish. I began to feel sick and weak. I went to a local doctor…and confirmed that I had a very serious case (hepatitis) and that I would need to be in bed on a strict diet for four months. I spent hours a day for the next four weeks reading, listening to tapes (about faith and healing), and praying. And suddenly I heard God say to me, “Barry, by My stripes you were healed.” Suddenly I knew I was healed! Healing is available today. It is available to you.
Chapter 2 The Message of the Kingdom
Jesus never taught healing. He preached the Kingdom and demonstrated the Kingdom. Healing is a benefit of the Kingdom. We need to stir ourselves to resist the work of the enemy in our bodies. The gospel of the Kingdom is the gospel of healing for the whole person.
Chapter 3 Is Sickness a Blessing in Disguise?
The fact that much of Jesus’ ministry involved physical healing demonstrates that the poor, brokenhearted, captive, blind, and bruised including those suffering physically. Sickness is captivity. It causes brokenheartedness and oppression. It creates poverty. Sickness is a curse, never a blessing.
Chapter 4 Healing in Redemption
Redemption is a legal issue. God does not choose to forgive some and not others. If Jesus bore our sins and He bore our sicknesses, then neither sins nor sickness should have dominion over us.
Chapter 17 Conceiving Healing
The idea of being “born again” by the seed of God’s Word is a language that should produce a picture within…When something is born, it is because something was conceived. As I was meditating on this, I felt the Lord speak to me ad say, “Barry, if sin and death can be conceived, then health and healing can be conceived.” Conception comes from hearing. What is growing in your heart concerning your future health? What is your vision and focus? What are you planning for? What are you talking about? These are clues that will reveal what has actually conceived within.
Chapter 18 How we are healed
When we speak on the subject of healing, we must begin with the belief that God wants to satisfy us with long life. Christians should not die before their time, or before they are satisfied that they have finished their course. Every believer must be led of the Lord and have their faith activated to pursue their health and healing whether it involves medical assistance or not. When we spend quality time in the Word, allowing God to reveal His truth to us, it is health to our flesh. How do miracles happen? They are a result of the hearing of faith. When Christians agree, it is because they have seen the unseen and heard from God. Such unity in the area of healing will produce an “effective, fervent prayer” (James 5:16)
In summary, there are 25 chapters (237 pages) power-packed with revelational and practical healing answers to every question we tend to ask. For example, answers to questions like, why are we sick? what do you expect? what is faith? what can you see? releasing healing, the power of words, kinds of faith, attitude of health and healing, physical and emotional trauma, how we are healed? And many more. There is also a healing prayer at the end of each chapter!
An introduction about the author (from his website):
Barry, a graduate of Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas, has been serving the Lord since 1972. He and his wife, Betty Kay, have served on the mission field in Mexico, Guatemala, and in Chile, where they spent almost 12 years before returning to Texas in 2001.
While attending a large Spanish-speaking congregation in Carrollton, Texas, Barry was the director and principal teacher at a Spanish language Bible institute, Instituto Avance, where he served for five years. The Bennetts also spent two and a half years ministering to Cambodian refugees in Dallas, and they have ministered in home groups, churches, and on short-term mission teams.
Barry came to Andrew Wommack Ministries in 2007 and worked in the Phone Center as a prayer minister before accepting a position answering the scriptural and doctrinal questions that would come to AWMI via mail and email. He later went on to be the Dean of Students, and is now the Dean of Instructors. Barry is also an instructor at Charis Bible College in Colorado and teaches at both domestic and international CBC satellite campuses.
I am healed! This is really the best out of the latest total healing teachings I have ever watched and listened to. I am going to listen again and write down the notes (hopefully a transcript because it is so good and relevant and powerful for all of us today!) Barry Bennett is a powerful Bible teacher and missionary. He has lots of testimonies about being healed (including cancers and resurrection from the dead!) He teaches practical steps for how to receive supernatural healing! Watch this and listen many times if needed! Be prepared for your own healing!
Looking through some of the audio prayers we recorded for patients I came upon two prayers to help strengthen an end state cancer patient whom the doctors had advised to be transferred to hospice. She continued to believe in God during her medical treatment. At that time she was in regular severe pain despite her […]
No matter how I want to remain positive, I cannot deny the above statement spoken by a teacher in a lesson on healing. But born again Christians are new creation and everything has become new according to 2 Corinthians 5:17! How can this be? As I continue to tend the remains of wound/operation effect below my left eye and at the side of its corner, I too, feel frustrated. How long? In my more ignorant days I would have cried, “how long, Lord?” But now I know better. The problem is not with the Lord. The problem is me.
By divine arrangement I opened the
book by Andrew Wommack on Spirit, Soul, and Body and read today. And the answer
is clear and simple.
What I feel and see in my body is
not what is inside my spirit. I cannot see or feel my spirit. My spirit is
perfect because it is born of God’s Spirit. In my spirit I have everything I need
already: wisdom, revelation knowledge, healing, good relationship, all
provisions and resources to ensure an abundant life on earth in the kingdom of God,
just as apostle Paul has confidently stated, I can do all things in Christ who
strengthens me. But how to get hold of them? Why are they not flowing automatically
in my body and the physical aspects of my life?
Here is the
explanation: The soul is the valve that blocks all that God has given in Christ
in our spirit and prevents the body from receiving them.
Blockages in the soul are: wrong
thinking –that I had to get God to give me things! I need to think differently
–that God has already given me all good things. In truth, no amount of
self-efforts can get them.
God’s Word is a mirror! God’s way
of healing! I can look into it and see my real self and let it become real in
my soul and my body. God’s Word opens the blocked valve by the following
Philemon 6 (KJV) That the communication of thy
faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in
you in Christ Jesus.
John 1:16 (KJV) And of his fullness have all we
received, and grace for grace.
Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV) I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do
not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of
A change must take place: I need to
start to see that God has already given the good things in Christ for me.
Actions: let the Word of God renew
my mind, learn to release from my born-again spirit, discover how to release,
let faith work and produce. All these are done by acknowledging (communicating)
every good thing in me in Christ Jesus!
In practice: Read God’s words and
ask for revelation. Meditate on it. Pray in tongues. Read the revealed words
aloud. Do until the revelation becomes reality in my life. This is what I am
doing for my healing.
Indeed, churches do not need to be
full of sick people!
2019 Yesterday I watched Barry Bennett’s lessons on Galatians and
learned that I need to get revelation knowledge for myself for healing and
financial matters. Today I read Mark 5 and Romans 8 together. I prayed for
revelation knowledge. Here is a summary of what I received after a morning of
reading and meditating on the words of God.
Three kinds of physical healings are recorded here: a man in mental agony and torment, a woman with chronic disease, and a dying girl (who died before Jesus could get there. Of course, Jesus raised her from the dead when He arrived).
The place: the man was isolated in a remote place (in the tombs); the woman was mingling in the crowd; the girl was very sick, lying in bed at home with her family and relatives.
How did they approach Jesus for healing? The tormented man saw Jesus from afar, ran and worshipped Him; the woman hid herself in the crowd behind Him and touched His garment; the girl’s father, Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, came to Jesus in the crowd, fell at His feet, and begged Him earnestly.
How did they think they could get receive the healing? Jairus asked Jesus to come to his house and lay hands on his daughter. The woman told herself that she should be made well by touching Jesus’ clothes. The man in the tomb had to wait till Jesus come to him and when he saw Jesus indeed coming, he ran and worshipped Jesus!
Does social status matter who gets healed? Of course the ruler can come to Jesus openly and show his submission to Jesus and his faith in Jesus in public. But the woman is not deterred by her lowly social status (a chronically bleeding unclean and poor woman). She merely hid herself in the crowd to get the healing herself. She received too. The isolated man could not come to Jesus physically but he cried out day and night (to God) in torment. And God’s compassion found him and delivered him.
I want to look at the tormented man
a bit more in depth. How did he know and recognize Jesus was his deliverer? Was
he always “insane” (of unsound mind)? We can find answer in the following
verses from Mark 5:
Verse 6: when he saw Jesus from
far, he ran and worshipped Him.
15: after he was delivered from a
legion (2000) of demons, others saw him sitting and clothed and in his sound
mind with Jesus.
18: when Jesus got into the boat to
leave, this healed man begged Jesus let him go with Him and be with Him!
19: Jesus instead, gave this healed man a great commission – go home and tell his friends two things: what great things the Lord has done for him, and how the Lord has compassion on him.
Jesus did not tell everyone He has healed to go tell people. But He told this particular man to witness for Him and He even told him how to witness. This man has family and friends before he became demonized and isolated. He could have heard of Jesus then. He cried out day and night during torment. Did he cry out to God for help? Was he expectant for the day his deliverer would arrive to save him? Jesus asked him to tell of the great things God has done for him and God’s compassion on him. It means this man knows of both the great things Jesus has done and the compassion God has shown through Jesus to many even before he himself experienced them. How did the Lord have compassion on him? Surely the man has a long list of testimonies of what he went through during his torment day and night, waiting and expecting, while being sustained and preserved by the Lord.
Indeed, all three persons recorded in the above divine healing present a type for healing. Because Jesus said so. In John 6 Jesus tells us an important criterion for healing: The Father (God) has drawn them, and they come to Jesus, hear His words, which are life and spirit, and they believe Him. (John 6:44,45,65)
How do I relate these three cases
in Mark 5 with Romans 8? Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you
will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will
Carnal way cannot heal or save lives. The man could not get rid of the demons by cutting his physical body; the woman could not stop her chronic bleeding through paying the physicians all her money; the ruler could not find a human way to keep his daughter from dying even though he probably had all the financial means.
Spiritual way saves life. Jesus said His words are spirit and life. In the three cases, they heard God’s words and believed. They were healed.
Today we have the Spirit of life dwelling in us. God gives life to our mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in us. (Romans 8:11)
How to be spiritually minded and
not carnally minded? How to put to death the deeds of the body? What are the
deeds of the body? Sicknesses and bondages are deeds of the body. By setting
our minds on the things of the Spirit, we put sickness and bondage to death!
Here are the practical action yet supernatural keys to be
Read God’s words,
meditate, let the words become revelation knowledge to each of us personally.
His words are life and spirit. The ruler, the woman with chronic disease, and
the man with mental torment have heard of Jesus and believed what He said. They
know and believe Who He says He is. before they could get to Him or have Him
come to them (in their vicinity), they would have heard and meditated and
Set our minds on the
things of the Spirit. (Romans 8:5) The three persons were not deterred by the
helpless physical impediments. They continued to believe. They took determined
actions when the opportunity came to them. Come to think of it, they only had
Jesus’ words (heard by them direct or through somebody) to cling to while
desperately expecting and waiting for the healing and deliverance. They walked
by faith and not by sight. His spoken words are more than sufficient to lead
them into triumph. We, on the other hand, have His written words and His Spirit
in us. What more do we need to be victorious? The words and the Spirit are real
and we can actually experience their power when we believe. There are countless
real life testimonies by others. There is no excuse not to be able to walk and
live by the Spirit.
The apostle Paul also
taught us a powerful weapon, praying in tongues. Countless Christians have
testified the effectiveness of praying in tongues in enhancing our spiritual
walk. Paul himself prayed in tongues more than the whole Corinthian church
combined. And he wrote two-third of the New Testament! (We can see the evidence
of the fruit by reading the long list of great challenges and victories he went
through by living by the Spirit.)
Continue to abide in
Christ through reading, hearing, and meditating on the above: His words, His
Spirit, and testimonies by others about His words and the works of the Holy
Spirit in their lives.
There are all kinds of good ground. But there are always common denominators: a hunger for the words of God, a passion for a closer relationship with God, a commitment to apply in practical living, and a desire to share with others the Good News –what great things God has done for you, and how he has compassion on you. Jesus described such good ground as those who having heard the words with a noble and good heart, keep it, and bear fruit with patience! (Luke 8:15)
I have been greatly motivated by her healed testimonies and teaching on how to walk in the Holy Spirit for my own healing. What I learned from her is to never give up or give in. She was healed of bone cancer and other ailments miraculously! I believe that those who watch and listen will be similarly encouraged and motivated to press on for your healing!
She is dynamic and full of life and tells the truth as it is with real life illustrations. She knows God and experiences God. You will be awed at her witnessing and the power of the Holy Spirit she walks in.
I have recently encountered physical challenges in my body like never before. Listening to Barry’s teaching and his personal healed testimonies has encouraged me and pointed me to the right direction to overcome the challenge and triumph. I urge you to watch the two recent healing videos and visit his web-site for many more resources. His teachings are clear, Biblical Scriptural based, relevant and powerful for practical living. I have been listening to them since I first encountered divine healing reality. Barry knows God, listens to God and walks in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Towards the end of last year I went through a challenging time in the physical and spiritual realms. The incident drew me to re-examine my daily timetable and reprioritize my life. I decided to get into the spiritual realm to handle it and it meant halting other stuff and adopt a new schedule as follows:
Put God-factor as number One. How? Praying in tongue persistently in most of my waking hours. Read the word of God whilst praying in tongue. My spirit prompted me to read 2 Corinthians so I have been doing that until now. Read. Meditate. Pray. Let the Lord speak to me. Receive and record down His revelation. Meditate and act upon it by faith with the position I have in Christ and the authority I have as a believer.
Result was significant and the manifestation was completely over by the third week. I resumed…
I decide to do a diagram for those who prefer visual aid for their Bible study. This is taken from the teaching from:
Life Foundations – Mike & Carrie Pickett (Introduction excerpt)
We should always be continuing to grow and develop in these Life Foundation areas:
1. Understanding God’s Love For You
2. Understanding Your Spiritual Make-up
3. Understanding How God Sees You
4. Understanding Your Identity in Christ
5. Understanding the True Nature of God
6. Understanding Your Spiritual Authority
By understanding these six areas, they will:
➢ revolutionize your relationship with God
➢ empower your to overcome any attack of the enemy
➢ give you the ability to minister to anyone at any time about anything
The most important part of a structure is its foundation. These points will help you to establish a firm foundation in the Word of God.
The language of the Spirit is the Word. If we do not understand the Word, we will not understand what the Spirit is speaking to us. (We are all, always students of God’s Word).
These are points that we are purposely always growing in throughout our whole lives.

A woman suffering from a rash and blinding headaches discovers there is only one cure.
by Marilyn Ludolf
I woke up with the same tormenting headache I had gone to bed with, and struggled to the bathroom. I grasped the sink with both hands and reluctantly raised my pounding head to the mirror.
The face reflected in the glass was a fiery red mask of tiny bumps and large acnelike sores. Hundreds of them. The horrible rash covered my face like the Egyptian plague of boils in the Bible. The unending headache and rash comprised the mysterious condition I had lived with for 12 long, unbearable years.
Here I was, a middle-aged woman with two teenage sons and a husband, and I could hardly bear to raise my head and look in the mirror.
Tears blurred my vision as I tried to remember the smooth, milk-white complexion I used to have. My fingers twitched, longing to claw at the fiercely itching skin on my face.
I had tried everything—special diets, oatmeal soap, baby oil, vitamins and enough creams and ointments to fill a small drugstore. And the long line of doctors I had seen had passed by like a dwindling parade of hope. The rash had only grown worse, and my face swelled, itched and turned tomato-red at the slightest stimulus.
Suddenly the pain behind my eyes tightened as if someone were packing cotton into my sinuses. I reached for a bottle of pain medication and quickly swallowed a couple of pills. I took the maximum of eight pills a day. But they only forestalled the worst of it—when the pain crept down my neck, making clear thinking nearly impossible.
I felt consumed by despair, by the long years of this strange affliction. I had prayed so many times for it to go away. “Oh, God, why don’t you help me?”
I dabbed at my eyes and dressed for work. My head ached so much I could hardly pull a comb through my hair. I thought about crawling back into bed. But, of course, I couldn’t. I liked my work as a third grade schoolteacher. I had to keep going.
As I entered school that morning a little girl peered up at me, her eyes wide with surprise and dismay. “How come your face looks like that?” she asked.
I raised my hands over my cheeks and tried to explain. But I fell silent. I had no answer.
Not long after, someone told me about a dermatologist. I had seen half a dozen specialists already, but I made an appointment, ready to grasp at anything. I sat slumped on his examining table after a long series of allergy tests.
“Well, maybe we have an answer,” the doctor said. “It appears you are allergic to yourself.”
I stared at him disbelievingly. “You must be kidding!”
“I know it sounds strange, but these allergy tests show you are allergic to your own bacteria.”
Hope blew away like the last autumn leaf. Allergic to myself. How could I escape that?
“We’ll make a special serum, using your saliva,” said the doctor, “and teach you how to inject it.”
And so began the next three years of giving myself shots. The headaches were not quite as severe, nor the rash quite as red—partial relief. The doctor did everything he could, prescribing medicines, creams and consultations. Still, the ever-present plague was agonizing, embarrassing.
So I followed my old, exhausted pattern and found yet another doctor. This time an outstanding allergist. More tests. More money. He decided I was allergic to a long list of foods, and put me on a diet. For a year I existed on nothing but peas, potatoes, carrots, lettuce and lean meat. My weight plummeted to 102 pounds.
“You’re wasting away, Mama,” said my son one morning as I packed my lunch of canned peas. He was right. Something dreadful was happening to me. And despite it all the daily headaches persisted, and the humiliating rash and acne were splashed across my face as big and red as ever.
This is no way to live, I thought dismally as I draped a scarf across my head and left for work.
Then one Sunday as I struggled to teach my Sunday school class, I heard myself saying, “God is the answer.” I paused, the echo of my words thundering in my head. As the class continued, the words burrowed inside me like a splinter.
At home after church I lay on the sofa with a warm cloth across my forehead. I gazed out the windows at the silent woods across the road. The words I had spoken that morning nudged at me.
I am a Christian, I thought. I tell other people God is the answer, that they can find wholeness through him. Yet I’ve been a prisoner of this condition for nearly 16 years.
Suddenly the familiar old story of the woman in Mark 5:25-34 focused in my mind. The woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ robe and was healed. I was so much like her. I too had suffered a condition for many years, gone to countless physicians, spent nearly all I had and was not better, but worse.
The difference was the woman in Mark had finally gone to Jesus with faith—and was healed.
Did such healings still happen today? I wondered. If so, could healing really happen to me? There on the sofa, the idea of real healing from God spun in my head. It almost seemed too ancient to be real. If only I could be sure.
The weeks passed and winter melted away. The incredible idea of healing lingered in my mind like a held-over Christmas present. I toyed with the ribbons, afraid to open it, afraid it might turn out to be empty…but strangely unable to turn away.
Then one Sunday something happened. I lay in bed trying to find diversion from my headache by watching television. On the screen stood a beautiful young woman—Cheryl Prewitt, Miss America 1980.
“God healed me,” she said. “I prepared myself to be healed, and God healed me.”
My heart began to pound with a strange excitement. She was speaking to me! No, God was speaking to me! He did still heal people today.
“Come quick!” I called to my husband and boys. As they hurried to the bedroom I pointed to the TV, where the radiant young woman still spoke. Tears poured down my face. “If God can heal her, then he can heal me,” I said.
Finally, after 16 desperate years of trying everything else, I was ready. Again I relived that biblical story in my mind. What was it Jesus had said to that woman after she had brushed her fingertips across his robe? “Your faith has made you whole.” And what had Cheryl Prewitt said? “I prepared myself to be healed.”
Faith, there was the key. There was what had been missing before. My faith had grown flabby, like out-of-shape muscles. I knew intellectually that God is powerful and can heal. But somehow I had to get that knowledge from my mind down into my heart. I had to believe it as absolutely as I believed the sun would rise tomorrow.
On May 1, I began to prepare myself for healing like an athlete training for the Olympics. I sat down in the kitchen rocker with a pad of paper and my Bible. I flipped to the concordance in the back—to the heading of “healing, health and faith.”
I picked out verses, then looked them up, writing each one down word for word. It took a couple of days, but I finally compiled a list of 36 Scriptures—sort of a training manual for my faith.
The next day I tucked the papers into my purse. While driving to work I pulled them out and laid them on the seat. At the first stoplight I focused on Psalm 103:2-3. “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits…Who healeth all thy diseases,” I whispered.
I closed my eyes, saying it over and over, letting it sink down inside me. At a stop sign my eyes fell on another from Jeremiah: Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed…. ” I said it over and over.
All day I kept it up—before getting out of the car, walking along the school corridors, sitting in the playground at recess. Not a spare moment was lost; by the end of the schoolday my Scripture papers were dog-eared from wear.
In the weeks that followed this became my constant routine. The papers were as inseparable from me as my shadow. And by some inexplicable process the 36 Scriptures were slowly sinking into the core of my being with roots of belief.
I was actually beginning to believe—really believe—that I could be healed. I could almost feel my faith stretching and rippling with new strength.
I circled July 12 on the kitchen calendar. “Lord, this is the day I’m asking for complete healing,” I said.
Then I added another exercise. I began to visualize my complexion as pink and clear as a newborn baby’s, and my sinus passages free and well. I imprinted it on my mind day and night. This exercise became rather a strenuous one, because the mirror was such a contrast from my image.
The mirror is wrong, I told myself. Soon it will reflect my inner image.
Late that spring I hurried past a mirror at school. Suddenly I stopped, backed up and peered into it. I ran my fingers across my face. Was it my imagination or did the fiery-red rash seem a bit faded? And my headache. Didn’t it seem better? “Oh, thank you, Lord!” I cried. “You are healing me.”
July 12 dawned warm and shiny through the bedroom window. I tiptoed to the bathroom mirror, took a deep breath and looked into it. The rash still lingered on the lower part of my face, and a faint sinus headache tugged behind my eyes.
I will not give up, I thought. With a sudden burst of faith I said, “Well, Lord, this is the day! I know it will happen.”
When the sun set in an orange glow I went to a mirror again. Again I stared at my reflection, tears sparkling on my face. A face completely smooth and clear! It was the face I had imagined. The headache of the morning had drifted away as well. God and faith had made me whole.
For almost a year now I have not experienced a single headache, and my skin remains clear. I’ve gotten rid of all the old ointments, medicines, allergy shots and diets. The only thing I’ve kept are my precious dog-eared papers—those powerful Scripture exercises that brought my faith to life.
For there’s one thing I’ve learned: Though it’s important to keep physical muscles well-toned, it’s even more important to keep “faith muscles” strong. For they are the ones that churn the spiritual energy, that move the mountains in our lives. Even a mountain like mine, which had towered over me for 16 years.
A few weeks ago at a meeting a stranger tapped my shoulder. “Your complexion is so beautiful,” she said.
“Oh, thank you,” I said, breaking into an unusually big smile. A smile, I’m sure, no one there really understood…except me and God.

Lots of new testimonies for healing! For example, When Bud’s wife Gina came down with a sudden stage-5 brain aneurism, he had a choice; he could either believe the doctor’s report that she would not be leaving the hospital alive, or believe God’s word. This is the story about one family’s fight to stand firm on God’s promises to see Gina become a walking miracle. Watch this:
Luke 5:4-9 New Living Translation (NLT)
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.”
5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” 6 And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! 7 A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.
8 When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m such a sinful man.” 9 For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him.
Luke 5:15-17, 22-26 New Living Translation (NLT)
15 But despite Jesus’ instructions, the report of his power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.
Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man
17 One day while Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of religious law were sitting nearby. (It seemed that these men showed up from every village in all Galilee and Judea, as well as from Jerusalem.) And the Lord’s healing power was strongly with Jesus.
22 Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you question this in your hearts? 23 Is it easier to say ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up and walk’? 24 So I will prove to you that the Son of Man[a] has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”
25 And immediately, as everyone watched, the man jumped up, picked up his mat, and went home praising God. 26 Everyone was gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, “We have seen amazing things today!”
Looking through some of the audio prayers we recorded for patients I came upon two prayers to help strengthen an end state cancer patient whom the doctors had advised to be transferred to hospice. She continued to believe in God during her medical treatment. At that time she was in regular severe pain despite her increasing reliance on morphine. She made a decision to rest with a Christian family instead of staying in a hospice. During the last stage of her fight she had good social support through the love and care of good friends who got to know her through her involvement in the church and prayer group who only came to know of her case then. She passed on despite the medical treatment and prayers.
Why? We cannot help but ask.
Today while studying for my Bible College courses, I come upon the following teaching which I find very relevant to my question. The teaching is on the case of Jesus reprimanding His disciples for not having faith concerning a boy who suffered from epilepsy in Matthew 17:21. When the disciples prayed they saw things in the physical realm like the symptoms actually got worse. The bystanders/crowd were pressing in. The patient’s father/family was anxious and disappointed. Unbelief in us rises and can negate our faith.
How to stay in faith? How to overcome our natural unbelief in spiritual/supernatural things? It takes practice and focus. Fasting and praying is one effective way to do that. I pray we all learn to develop a close relationship with God and become more and more sensitive to His spiritual reality, hearing Him and aligning our prayers with Him.
“When you pray for things, sometimes it gets worse instead of better. And the reason is is because the devil, you flushed him out in the open. He is going to have to leave if you continue to stand in faith. And so he will do something to manifest something contrary to what you have believed to try and get you into unbelief that will negate your faith.”
“And so, when you pray for something and it does not look right, how do you overcome that natural unbelief that comes against you through that? Prayer and fasting is what does that…you are talking to a God that you cannot see…And then you hear Him, and do you know what? That goes against all of your natural senses…And if you live a life of prayer, if you have much prayer, then do you know what it does? You get your senses accustomed to, “There is more going on than what I can see, taste, hear, smell, or feel.” Especially when you pray and ask God for wisdom, and then God speaks to you, and you act on it. And now you see that it works, and everything worked out…” (Andrew Wommack)
“When Andrew first went on television, the Gospel Truth broadcast only had 3 percent coverage in the United States. Now, with recent additions to ministry coverage, the program reaches a potential 3.2 billion people worldwide. By God’s grace, the Gospel is going farther and deeper than ever before!…”
“It all began when Andrew was born again at just eight years old. Although he avoided the rebellious phase often associated with adolescence, he believed that through his own righteousness, he could develop a relationship with the Lord. But then, on a Saturday night in 1968, everything changed. Andrew realized he had fallen into the bondage of legalism and began confessing his self-righteousness, expecting the wrath of God to fall. Instead of wrath, however, God’s presence flooded him with love. “God’s love consumed me,” he says. “When I was at my worst, God’s love was the strongest.” This encounter changed his life forever and motivated him to follow God’s leading in his life. He decided to leave college, even though that meant losing his student deferment. Drafted into the Army and shipped to Vietnam, he served as a chaplain’s assistant. Despite how difficult and dangerous things were on the front lines, God used that time to ground Andrew in His Word and begin establishing the course of his life.
Upon his return, Andrew submitted to the call of God to be a teacher of the Word. He and Jamie were married in 1972, and together they began teaching Bible studies. Over the next six years, they would pastor three small churches and complete their family with two sons, Joshua and Jonathan Peter.
In 1976, Andrew broadcast his first Gospel Truth radio program on a little country-and-western station in Childress, Texas. By 1980, Andrew and Jamie had moved their ministry to Colorado Springs. Their vision was becoming quite clear: to teach the truth of the Gospel to the body of Christ throughout the United States and the world, with special emphasis on God’s unconditional love and the balance between grace and faith. They were fulfilling that vision by traveling to speaking engagements, producing radio broadcasts, and distributing audio cassette tapes, which were provided at no cost to those who could not afford them.
Andrew Wommack on radio
In 1976, Andrew broadcast his first Gospel Truth radio program on a little country-and-western station in Childress, Texas.
God began speaking to Andrew about 2 Timothy 2:2. In that scripture, Paul told Timothy to take the things that he had learned and commit them to faithful men who would be able to teach others. Andrew knew God wanted him to do the same. In 1994, a cornerstone of the ministry was laid in place with the dedication of Charis Bible College—a college committed to equipping the saints for ministry by providing sound biblical teaching and practical, hands-on training.
In January of 2000, Andrew broadcasted the first Gospel Truth television program on INSP Network. Response to the message was tremendous, and since then, the Gospel Truth has been added to over twenty networks including The Church Channel, Daystar, God TV, and CNL, as well as over 500 television stations around the globe. And the Gospel Truth continues to grow.
But God was putting even bigger things on Andrew’s heart.
The ministry quickly outgrew its first two buildings, in Manitou Springs and on Robinson Street in Colorado Springs. Andrew began looking for a new home for the ministry. Although he saw several move-in-ready properties, he knew the ministry needed more space than they could offer. Instead, he chose the partly finished, but much larger, Elkton Drive location. AWM moved into the Elkton building in 2004, and for years this location was able to accommodate substantial growth for Charis Bible College, the Communication Services Department, Product Services Department, Television Department, Marketing Department, and the other departments that help make this ministry a success around the world.
In early 2011, AWM continued to grow in its reach and started to broadcast the Gospel Truth program on TBN. This nearly doubled the viewership and was a huge answer to prayer!….” (Excerpts quoted from the link below)
Read on for the full amazing and powerful testimony. Be encouraged as you read about how one man heard God and continued to hear and obey and let the impossible God do the impossible in his ordinary life. (This comment is this blogger’s own)
For many years this blogger has heard of divine healing and healed testimonies of various diseases from many different people in developed and developing nations. There seems no difference between people from all national backgrounds and walks of lives when it comes to healing by Jesus and His power in Holy Spirit filled believers using His name. What Jesus has said to His disciples about what those who believe in Him can do, in Mark 16:15-20, has come into physical reality, and many people get healed just by believing what Jesus has said.
As reported in this blog previously some of us have also practiced and experienced divine healing in our daily lives. We have read many books and testimonies and received both Biblical teaching and practical hands on training on divine healing. We have personally encountered healing and also witnessed others healed by our praying over them. We are encouraged by healed testimonies of those whom we prayed over. But we are not discouraged by not receiving testimonies from others.
A fortnight ago an evangelist/Bible teacher in our midst was invited to teach divine healing to a small group and someone brought a couple to her for prayers. The wife was instantly healed of pain which she had suffered for over weeks. The evangelist/Bible teacher went home and was led by the Spirit to invite the couple to come to see her a second time. So they came and she taught them the Bible verses about divine healing. She also prayed over the man who had cancer and had doctors’ report (death sentence) that he had to have lifelong chemotherapy until he dies. But the man had reached a point that he just couldn’t continue with the chemotherapy. The following day he went for a medical check up and the medical report had turned out to confirm that there is now no trace of cancer in him! The couple went home rejoicing and praising God.
It is always very encouraging to hear this. We pray that our readers are encouraged to read and believe in the Bible verses about healing and the healed testimonies of many. How did the couple receive their healing? By faith. They just believed and received with gladness.
Tonight I am led to read again a case of healing by Jesus: Luke 7:1-10 a Roman centurion’s dying servant was healed by Jesus because of the centurion’s faith in Jesus’ word. “But say the word and my servant will be healed.” He believed in the supreme authority of Jesus over sicknesses.
Today we are doing the same as Jesus has commanded His believers. We let the Lord (Holy Spirit) fill and lead us, use Jesus’ name, His word and authority to command sicknesses to depart. And we have witnessed many healed testimonies. I believe the latest healed testimony is a breakthrough in faith in action. Faith on the part of the healer and the patients as well.
I am reminded of another passage from the Bible of what Jesus said to His disciples in John 15 that he is the vine and we are the branches and unless we abide in Him we cannot do anything. This is a command for anyone who practices divine healing. Meditate on His words and let Jesus speak to you too. The evangelist/Bible teacher and the couple who came for help have held fast to John 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you willask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” Indeed, Jesus’ words came to pass.
The motivating force must be love. Only the love of Christ can compel a believer to want to give his or her life to serve in the divine healing ministry. John 15:9-13. Jesus has set the example and blazed the trail. This is the difference between those who continue to bear fruit and those who no longer bear fruit. A heart that is after God’s heart bears good fruit.
Belief in Jesus name is most important for healing. I have overcome my unbelief and seen supernatural results.
Don’t explain away the healed assurance even when we don’t see immediate effect. Hold fast like a bull dog. Just continue believing. Then the results will always manifest. Because it’s supernatural. God is supernatural.
Faith is a major key success factor among those who believe in divine healing. We all need faith to receive healing, whether by someone laying hand on us or by we ourselves reading and believing in the healing verses. Today we read Hebrews (chapter 11 and 12:1-3) to learn more and be assured about how faith works. Here is my summary of the Bible reading.
1. Faith is tied to the word of God and can be seen in the word of God. By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible. (11:3 AMPC)
2. God is pleased with faith expressed by us when approaching Him. (11:6)
3. Faith in God means we believe He is God and He rewards those who diligently seek Him. He likes us to seek Him out. (11:6) We can learn from Jesus’ example of having an intimate relationship with the Father in heaven.
4. Faith is tied to promise. God gives promises to us. We believe in His promises. Healing words are God’s promises.
5. We receive the manifestation of the healed by faith action: by believing, taking and holding fast to the words of promises we hear, receive, and proclaim to be ours.
6. Faith in action is a testimony. God records such testimonies. The following is a list of Biblical examples of such faith testimonies.
Abel’s more excellent sacrifice, Enoch’s close walk with God, Noah’s godly fear and preparation for saving his household, Abraham’s obedience, Moses’ choice and many others’ heroic overcoming various adversaries and adversities. (See below*)
7. Faith means although one does not see the result yet one continues to press on toward the goal: being motivated by the desire for a better condition than where we are.
8. Faith requires us to run with endurance the race that is set before us.
9. God has provided assured strength for us to complete the faith race if we follow the following divine instructions:
a. lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us;
b. looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
10. Faith means we focus on seeing Jesus (in our born again spirit) rather than looking at ourselves and the current conditions. Imitate Jesus. He successfully completed the race and is now sitting at the right hand of the throne of God!
33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. 35 Women received their dead raised to life again.
Read this prayer aloud and let your heart agree with it: Heavenly Father, thank You because You’re my Father and I’m your child. I have been born again. I am born of You. You are my very own Father, and I am Your very own child. Hallelujah! It is written in Your Word that “my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” [Phil. 4:19]. I believe that in my heart. You supply my physical needs – that is, healing for my body – for it is written in Matthew 8:17, “Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.” Jesus took my infirmities. He bore my sicknesses. What He bore, I need not bear. Because He bore them. I’m free; I’m healed. I believe that in my heart. I say it with my mouth. It’s mine. I have it now. He meets all my needs. My spiritual need is met. My financial need is met. Every material need is met. All my needs are met. I believe it in my heart. Because I believe it in my heart, I say it with my mouth. It is done. Confession: I’m not a doubter. I’m a believer. I am a child of God. God is my very own Father. I am His very own child. I am born of God. Source: Health Food Devotions by Kenneth E. Hagin. Many Christians find that not all who are suffering from challenges in their mind are healed from the symptoms and the causes thereof.
Why? This is a question that really bothers those who practice divine healing. Why do mental patients seem to find it harder to receive healing? Are there scriptural evidences that mental conditions that torment a person may be healed like that of physical conditions? If so, where are the evidences in the Bible? This is our topic today. Christianity is all about effective successful functioning living in the power of God and His words (life and spirit. John 6:63) for all who believe.
Let us read the following Bible verses (God’s words) with a heart that is opened to the Lord’s Spirit. Here is a brief summary of key positive healing words for all believers I find from the verses: They refer to our thought life and our own behavior. What we put in our heart and actually come out. Evidences of our inner lives that others can see. One mind. Sympathize. Love. tenderhearted. humble attitude. bless and not curse or seek revenge. speak no evil (it also means do no evil. speaking is equivalent to doing). turn away from evil. do good. seek peace. work to maintain peace. worship Christ as Lord of your life. Gentle, respectful, keep your conscience free.
The two keys to living a powerful Kingdom of God life: Living the life in the Spirit, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 3:8-22 (NLT) All Christians
8 Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters.[a] Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. 9 Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing. 10 For the Scriptures say,
“If you want to enjoy life
and see many happy days,
keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies.
11 Turn away from evil and do good.
Search for peace, and work to maintain it.
12 The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right,
and his ears are open to their prayers.
But the Lord turns his face
against those who do evil.”[b]
Suffering for Doing Good
13 Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14 But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats.
15 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. 16 But do this in a gentle and respectful way.[c] Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.
17 Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong!
18 Christ suffered[d] for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.[e]
19 So he went and preached to the spirits in prison— 20 those who disobeyed God long ago when God waited patiently while Noah was building his boat. Only eight people were saved from drowning in that terrible flood.[f] 21 And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from[g] a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
22 Now Christ has gone to heaven. He is seated in the place of honor next to God, and all the angels and authorities and powers accept his authority.

Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Wisdom
Ephesians 1:15 Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere,[e] 16 I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, 17 asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom[f] and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.[g]
19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. 21 Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. 22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23 And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.

1. repeatedly listen to the Bible verses.
2. copy down the verses.
3. worship God.
4. keep mind under the control of the Holy Spirit and the resurrection power of Christ.
5. take Holy Communion.
6. use our mouth to proclaim God’s positive words.
7. keep our mind thinking of thoughts of God’s goodness.
8. As Paul has taught, keep praying in tongue.
9. fellowship with other Christians who practice these.
10. be baptized by the Holy Spirit and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
We continue today with more power of praise. Praise turns darkness to light. Praise switches the role of being a victim to that of a victor! Praise places believers of Jesus to the head position and not the tail. Why does God honor them? Because they honor God. God builds His throne on our praises.
The time was darkest, at midnight. The two faithful disciples obeyed the Holy Spirit, went to evangelize this city and were falsely accused, thrown into prison with cruelty and treated as the worst criminals by the authority. Could the two be wrong in hearing God? Anyone would wonder. What a terrible fate. someone would remark. But these two were sure of their calling and their destiny. They did something that was just the opposite of despair. They sang powerful and hopeful praises to God at midnight, and miracles happened! As they sang praises and worshipped God, supernatural events took place: great earthquake, prison shaken, doors opened, chains unfastened, prisoners and jailor converted to Christ, jailor’s family also saved and converted. None of the prisoners ran away after conversion. Paul and Silas too were enjoying the presence of God so much they did not take the opportunity to run away. Instead, Paul (the former prisoner) took charge in an authoritative way, continued to bring the jailor and his family to Christ. The next day the table turned as the local officials had to apologize to them, and escorted them out of prison as very important honorary guests. Paul and Silas did not hear God wrongly. They were right to respond to their calling and they succeeded in their mission to evangelize the people who were crying out for help in a vision. THEY WERE FEARLESS. WHY? BECAUSE THEY KNEW GOD THROUGH THEIR REGULAR PRAISES TO GOD.
Let us read what happened on that fateful midnight.
ACTS 16:6-10; 22-40 AMP
PAUL SAW A VISION
6 Now they passed through the territory of Phrygia and Galatia, after being forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in [the west coast province of] Asia [Minor]; 7 and after they came to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them; 8 so passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. 9 Then a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man from [the Roman province of] [a]Macedonia was standing and pleading with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” 10 And when he had seen the vision, [b]we (including Luke) tried to go on into Macedonia at once, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
PAUL AND SILAS IMPRISONED
16:22 The crowd also joined in the attack against them, and the chief magistrates tore their robes off them and ordered that Paul and Silas be beaten with rods. 23 After striking them many times [with the rods], they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to guard them securely. 24 He, having received such a [strict] command, threw them into the inner prison (dungeon) and fastened their feet in the stocks [in an agonizing position].
MIDNIGHT PRAISES AND THE POWER OF PRAISES: MIRACLES!
25 But about midnight when Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; 26 suddenly there was a great earthquake, so [powerful] that the very foundations of the prison were shaken and at once all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened. 27 When the jailer, shaken out of sleep, saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, thinking that the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, saying, “Do not hurt yourself, we are all here!” 29 Then the jailer called for torches and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 and after he brought them out [of the inner prison], he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
SALVATION TO ALL WHO BELIEVE
31 And they answered, “Believe in the Lord Jesus [as your personal Savior and entrust yourself to Him] and you will be saved, you and your household [if they also believe].” 32 And they spoke the word of the Lord [concerning eternal salvation through faith in Christ] to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them that very hour of the night and washed their bloody wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household. 34 Then he brought them into his house and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, since he had believed in God with his entire family [accepting with joy what had been made known to them about the Christ].
HONOR RESTORED TO PAUL AND SILAS
35 Now when day came, the chief magistrates sent their officers, saying, “Release those men.” 36 And the jailer repeated the words to Paul, saying, “The chief magistrates have sent word to release you; so come out now and go in peace.” 37 But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us in public without a trial, men who are Romans, and have thrown us into prison; and now they are sending us out secretly? No! Let them come here themselves and bring us out!” 38 The officers reported this message to the chief magistrates, and [g]when they heard that the prisoners were Romans, they were frightened; 39 so they came [to the prison] and appealed to them [with apologies], and when they brought them out, they kept begging them to leave the city. 40 So they left the prison and went to Lydia’s house; and when they had seen the brothers and sisters, they encouraged and comforted them, and left.
Acts 16:9 Northern Greece.
Acts 16:10 At this point Luke (the writer) apparently joined the journey and includes himself in the narrative, speaking in the first person.
Acts 16:13 Apparently there were not enough Jews living in Philippi to establish a synagogue.
Acts 16:14 The first recorded believer in Europe.
Acts 16:14 This was an important and valuable fabric, having great demand, being used on the official toga in Rome and its colonies.
Acts 16:16 Lit a python spirit. In Greek mythology, Python the earth-dragon (serpent goddess), was associated with the oracle at Delphi.
Acts 16:38 Paul was a Roman citizen because he was born in Tarsus (22:28), capitol of Cilicia and a city that the emperor Augustus had pronounced “free” because of its support of Rome. Nothing is known of Silas’ family background, but if his name is short for “Silvanus,” it is a Roman name (taken from the god of the forest) and it could be that Silas was also born a Roman citizen. Details on Roman citizenship at that time are sketchy at best, but it is clear from Acts that punishing a citizen without a trial and guilty verdict was illegal, probably involving severe penalties for the magistrates in charge. Also, a Roman citizen charged with a crime had the right to go to Rome and be tried in the emperor’s court (25:9-12).
“Most Christians have a disease which can be fatal if not treated. It is spread through close contact with religion and is highly contagious. This disease makes the individual see everything backwards. Instead of God’s love compelling them to live holy, they think living holy will cause God to love them. This causes chronic fatigue and frustration from trying to give what they haven’t received. Discover the joy of knowing we are already loved by God.” (Andrew Wommack)
Spiritual Fitness 26th February (from Andrew Wommack’s Daily Devotional)
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast [it] from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Is Jesus advocating dismembering of our bodies? Quite the contrary. He is drawing on the universal drive within every person of self preservation to make a point. If you value your body highly enough that you would never sacrifice one of its parts, then you should esteem your spiritual well being much higher.
Ever since the fall of Adam and Eve, man’s priorities have been misplaced. Great effort is put into preserving our physical life while our spiritual condition is often overlooked. It constantly gets put on the “back burner” while we tend to more urgent matters of this life.
Yet our physical bodies are just temporary. If we live 70 years or more, that is just a fraction of a second in the light of eternity. Our spiritual man lives forever. The state in which it exists is determined by choices made in this life.
Therefore, choose to make your spiritual condition your top priority. Spend more time on your spiritual well being than you do your physical well being. You and everyone around you will be eternally grateful that you did.

I am led today to share some quotes from an evangelist of our time. Recently I have been interceding using the word “fire”. Today I suddenly thought of this evangelist’s autobiography, but I forgot its title. After I searched the internet I found that it’s aptly called, “Living a Life of Fire: An Autobiography” by Reinhard Bonnke. Indeed, it’s a time to call down supernatural fire. Many are suffering, oppressed, persecuted and lost. Some are forever lost without Jesus. Is this a time to build our own bigger and more luxurious houses with fancier ceilings? Good reminder from the old prophet Haggai. What is your call? That is the crux of the matter.
“It is said that resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for your enemy to die. There is no room for such a waste of energy in the service of God.”
“You have faith stories, too. No matter how small, remember them, recite them, count them, and celebrate them. They build your faith for what is coming next in your life.”
“When people decide not to take risks, this is why. They fear they might suffer unexpected consequences. And, as my ulcers and depression proved, the risk is real. But is that reason to hang onto the past? To cling to mediocrity? No. Doing that is the first step along the path of seeing a living faith become a dead one. The old place, the old building, the old method, the old success, is comforting. The new step is frightening. We must place our trust completely in God to move beyond these comfort zones in life.”
“Divine healings were signs and wonders to confirm the preaching of the gospel. He took the sick man by the hand and commanded that”
“When you pull up roots in order to fulfill a divine destiny, there is not a sense of pain or loss. Rather, there is a great expectation for things to come.”
“The need is not the call. This piece of wisdom has saved the lives of many a missionary, especially in Africa, where the needs are so great that they can pull you to pieces. A missionary can put out so many fires trying to meet needs around him that he suffers burnout. I have known missionary friends who said, “I hear the cry of lost souls calling me into the mission field.” These workers are headed for the missionary bone yard. They have responded to the call of the need rather than the call of God. We must go where God sends us, speak what He gives us to speak, hear His voice and obey it – this is our best protection from burnout. It will also guide us to the very best strategy for accomplishing His mission. For everything a man does to follow the call of God, there are ten things he does not do. We cannot do everything. We must focus on the call and not simply the needs.”
Faith: The Link with God’s Power by Reinhard Bonnke
“We do not first acquire the faith that we bring to Scripture. Scripture encourages faith. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).”
“Commitment Now, nobody can have unity on his or her own. You cannot be married on your own. There is no such thing as an independent believer. You cannot have unity by belonging nowhere.”
“Jesus did not call them—or you and me—to ditch their smiles and to wear sackcloth. His mission was not to turn people into “stick-in-the-muds.” Jesus Himself was not very conventional! The disciples caught His infectious spirit, one that would challenge the stuffy establishment. He showed them new things, especially faith and love, by which, they would conquer the world.”
“God the Deliverer The primary truth about God is that He is the Deliverer, the Emancipator, and the Savior. He is God only to the free. Faith is a venture that turns life into an adventure.”
“The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of unity. He is the bonding element. This bonding is a wonderful effect of faith in Christ. It is creative. It brings about a new kind of oneness not even known in the closest of earthly families.”
“Faith…needs to be matched with action. Belief is not just brain cells in motion. It demands a response. Do we do what we believe? If we believe in a seed, we plant it.”
Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke is principally known for his Great Gospel Crusades throughout the Continent of Africa. The son of a pastor, Reinhard gave his life to the Lord at age nine, and heard the call to the African mission field before he was even a teenager. After attending Bible College in Wales, and his ordination in Germany he pastored a church and then went on to start missionary work in Africa. It was there, in the small mountain kingdom of Lesotho, that God placed upon his heart the vision of ‘the continent of Africa, being washed in the precious Blood of Jesus’ — an entire continent, from Cape Town to Cairo and from Dakar to Djibouti that needed to be reached and to hear the proclamation of the signs-following Gospel.
He began holding meetings in a tent that accommodated just 800 people, but, as attendance steadily increased, larger and larger tents had to be purchased, until finally, in 1984, he commissioned the construction of the world’s largest mobile structure — a tent capable of seating 34,000 people! Soon, attendance at his meetings even exceeded the capacity of this huge structure, and he began open-air Gospel Campaigns with an initial gathering of over 150,000 people per service! Since then, he has conducted city-wide meetings across the continent with as many as 1,600,000 people attending a single meeting using towering sound systems that can be heard for miles.
It has now been some thirty-five years since Reinhard Bonnke founded the international ministry of Christ for all Nations (CfaN), which currently has offices in the United States, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, Nigeria, South Africa, Singapore, Australia, and Hong Kong.
Since the start of the new millennium, through a host of major events in Africa and other parts of the world, the ministry has recorded 55 million documented decisions for Jesus Christ.
As part of the discipleship-training program, 185 million copies of CfaN follow-up literature have been published in 103 languages and printed in 55 countries. Millions of books have been printed and freely ‘seeded’ in nations around the world. All this is in addition to the ‘Reinhard Bonnke School of Fire,’ an online, self-study course, aimed at inspiring others to Holy Spirit Evangelism and leading to either a certificate or university credits.
Reinhard Bonnke is also recognized for hosting ‘Fire Conferences’ in many different countries of the world, events that are aimed at equipping church leaders and workers for evangelism; for distributing over 95,500,000 copies of Minus to Plus, a profound salvation message, to homes around the world; and for seeking every opportunity to reach and to save the lost.
More recently, Bonnke has spent several years developing the ‘Full Flame Film Series,’ a series of eight inspirational films aimed at inspiring and challenging the church to Holy Spirit evangelism.
Evangelist Bonnke is married to Anni, father to Kai-Uwe, Gabrielle, and Susie, and grandfather to eight grandchildren.
~~~~~~~~~Here is Andrew’s letter abut making choices~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m sure you’ve heard the statement “Life is a series of choices.” To some, that’s too simple, but it really is true. Your decisions determine your destiny.
Jamie and I recently took a vacation. We didn’t get in the car and just go in any direction; we had a goal, and every turn we took was calculated to help us reach our destination. We checked the map often and made a few adjustments when we missed a turn. We didn’t do it perfectly, but we got to where we wanted to go, because of decisions.
Likewise, you make decisions every day that move you closer to your God-ordained destiny—or away from it. There is no such thing as just sitting still or putting God’s plan for your life on hold. That’s a deception. God’s will for you is intertwined with His will for others, and that is a constantly moving and changing dynamic. It’s like catching a flight. You can miss it.
It’s true that the Lord can get you to your destiny another way. He’s certainly smarter than a GPS device that “recalculates” when you miss a turn. There is always a later flight with God. But who wants the hassle, disappointment, and delay that comes with missing a connection? I want God’s best. Don’t you?
When you are on a road trip, those who are ahead of you can be valuable sources of information. It doesn’t matter how you feel about them personally. The fact that they have already driven the road gives them insights that you need. They can tell you what accommodations and restaurants are available. Or they can let you know of a wreck or construction ahead and then advise an alternate route. You would be foolish not to draw on the insights of others who have gone before you.
With that in mind, we have put together a number of what we call Destiny Stories. These are the stories of individuals who have made choices that changed their lives for the better. They are people just like you, with challenges, failures, pasts, and even successes that stood in the way of them following God’s will for their lives. But with a few good decisions, they made their lives count.
Take, for instance, Kevin and Rachel Dowling. They were living on the streets of New York. Homeless and helpless, they were dope addicts with no good future. But through a woman at one of the soup kitchens they frequented, they found the Lord and His love. Five years later, they were free from dope, but still lacked direction for their lives. They decided to come to Charis Bible College (CBC) in Colorado Springs, and everything began to change.
Not only have they been set free from the feelings of unworthiness and shame that dominated their lives, but now they are bringing others into their newfound freedom. The ones who used to sleep in cardboard boxes and eat out of trash cans are now providing food and the Gospel to thousands of other people who need a new destination.
Or take Leland Shores, who was a successful businessman in Dallas, Texas. While he lay on the floor, nearly choking to death on a sandwich, his life flashed before him, and he knew that all of his “successes” were worth nothing. When he recovered, he made the decision to sell everything he had and dedicate his life to the Lord.
That one decision led Leland to CBC and eventually Africa, where he helped establish the Discipleship Evangelism course, which has now reached nearly 500,000 people. Leland also established the AWM bookstore in downtown Kampala, Uganda, where hundreds of people have been born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit. If that weren’t enough, Leland started CBC-Uganda, with over 100 students who are changing Uganda.
Leland died unexpectedly in June 2011, but in the eleven years since he made the decision to make his life count for the Lord, he did more than most people do in a lifetime. And because Leland’s emphasis was on discipleship, his disciples are continuing the work he began. Numerous people have been raised from the dead through those Leland reached. Disciples are ministering on the radio daily, and others are holding crusades with signs and wonders. Leland’s impact is just beginning.
Carrie Pickett is a young woman who came to our college fresh out of high school. She had known that the Lord had a call on her life since she was a little girl, but she was transformed by the Word and her missions trip to Russia. God put a love in her heart that she has been following for the last thirteen years in Russia.
Some would think of all that Carrie gave up to go to Russia. She’s an attractive young lady who put her personal desires for a family on the altar to serve the Lord. But God had the perfect husband for Carrie—in Russia. She would have missed him if she hadn’t followed the Lord to the ends of the earth. Now she and her husband, Mike, have a beautiful daughter, Elliana.
Their lives are making a big impact. They not only have established a CBC in St. Petersburg, but they also have a goal of starting 1,000 new Bible colleges in the next five years and are well on their way to seeing the completion of that vision. They were also responsible for getting my books and television broadcasts translated into Russian. Through their efforts, the Gospel Truth television broadcast now reaches 160 million homes in Russia every weekday across eleven time zones. They also direct our AWM-Russia office, which ministers to thousands of Russian-speaking people throughout the world.
What would all of these people’s lives have been like if they hadn’t made the decisions they did? An even greater question might be, what would the lives of the millions of people they’ve affected have been like without them? Every one of us has a God-ordained destiny that is designed to touch others. We are carrying other people’s miracles. I don’t think we can fully comprehend this. It is certain, however, that the lives of millions of people were changed simply because these “heroes of the faith” made the right decisions.
Are you certain that the decisions you are making every day are the ones the Lord wants you to make? If you can’t answer that affirmatively, then what is stopping you? Most people don’t intentionally decide to miss their destinies; they just get busy with the cares of this life, and before they know it, they are in a rut that they can’t seem to get out of.
But remember, your life is the result of choices—YOUR choices. Others can influence or hinder you, but your choices are the determining factor of your destiny. It is never too late to make the right choices.
My spiritual life started with making a choice. I had been seeking to know the Lord’s will for my life when He directed me to Romans 12:1-2, which says,
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
He showed me His will for my life was to be completely committed to Him. That’s the main thing. I was only seventeen years old at the time, but I started seeking to become a living sacrifice to the Lord with all my heart.
That decision led to a miraculous encounter with the Lord on March 23, 1968, when God revealed Himself to me in a way that changed my life forever. I have never been, and will never be, the same. I made an absolute and complete, unconditional surrender to the Lord that has propelled me to the life I live today. I’ve made thousands of decisions since then, but the decision to unconditionally follow God’s will for my life started it all.
The fact that you are receiving this letter is the result of decisions made by you and me. I decided to follow the Lord and teach His Word, and you decided to contact us in response to something He spoke to you through me. Our lives have been connected because of decisions. Decisions determine destiny.
My study of the Word of God has been the single most influential force on my decisions. God’s Word is a light to our path (Ps. 119:105). It’s like I explained in my book Effortless Change, all we really have to do is put the seed of God’s Word in our hearts, and it will change us effortlessly. That’s how God established His kingdom.
Charis Bible Colleges are changing the lives of thousands of people through the ministry of God’s Word. We now have about 2,000 people involved in correspondence courses, online Bible courses, and our eighteen campuses. But we are reaching the limits of the number of people we can accommodate here at our campus in Colorado Springs.
As you know, I saw this coming, and the Lord directed me to start preparing for a Bible college campus where we could train at least 3,000 people. We purchased 157 acres in 2009 and just got released from some legal issues in June 2011. We are now in the final stages of getting all the work permits. It might be possible to break ground in November, but with the weather in Colorado, that could be tough.
I’ve decided to have a groundbreaking on March 23, 2012, the forty-fourth anniversary of my miraculous encounter with the Lord. That is the night I made a decision that has led me to this place. I think that beginning date is providential.
I encourage you to go to our website and view the special live-streaming internet broadcast I did back in July. I fully discussed where we are in the process of building this Bible college campus and where we are going with it. I also asked that you help me make another decision.
Our CBC campus will have two main buildings. Together they will give us 220,000 square feet of space to train the men and women who will be world changers. That’s twice the space we now occupy, and there is plenty of room for expansion if needed. But constructing these buildings is costly. Therefore, I am currently in the process of making a decision on whether I should build one building as a first step or build both of these buildings at the same time.
I’ve decided the Lord wants me to do this debt free. I’ve witnessed other ministries make decisions that put them under financial pressure, and it changed their ministries. I’ve decided not to do this. These buildings are just tools. I think they are necessary tools and I’m following the direction the Lord has given me, but I’m happy and blessed without them. Regardless of how long it takes or if I never see the building of this campus come to pass, I will still be blessed and in love with the Lord. I will not put this ministry in a bind for buildings.
Therefore, I am asking those whom God has joined to Jamie and my heart to help me decide how to approach this. I haven’t got the money to pay for this out of my pocket, and I’m not taking out a loan. I need to ask what you are willing to do. You are God’s bank.
To build the smaller structure would take 6,100 new Foundation Builder Partners averaging $60 per month for twenty-eight months. This half of the campus includes a 1,500-seat auditorium upstairs, a 500-seat auditorium, and twenty-three classrooms downstairs.
If I also build the 2,500-seat auditorium with all the offices and Phone Center at the same time, I would have to have 16,668 new Foundation Builder Partners for thirty-six months to complete the whole project.
I know these numbers may seem overwhelming, but if you look at this from the viewpoint of how many people we are reaching, this is an attainable goal. There are 86,000 people receiving this letter. A $14.63 gift per month from everyone for thirty-six months would pay for this whole project, debt free. When you factor in that millions of people watch my program daily, this becomes nothing. All things are possible with God (Mark 9:23).
I ask you to simply pray about this and do whatever the Lord leads you to do. I would remind you that I am in the process of making a decision on how to approach this project. It’s important to me that you let me know in the next month or two what the Lord is leading you to do. I must decide whether to build just one building or both of these buildings simultaneously. I will have to give direction to my builder by January 1.
On July 28, I broadcast, via the internet, a special video message talking about our progress on the development of The Sanctuary project thus far and the steps we will be taking in the near future. Please take the time to go to our website to listen to this message, and then watch the virtual tour. I know it will bless and encourage you.
Decisions do determine destiny, but those decisions must be based on the truth of the Word. It was the Word of God that changed my life, and it will change your life as well. To help you, I have spent years developing a study of the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). It became the first edition of what we call the Life for Today Study Bible and Commentary.
In this Life for Today Study Bible: The Gospels Edition, I have arranged the four Gospels in parallel and chronological order. It makes it very easy to compare what each of the Gospels say about specific events in the life of Jesus. In addition, I also recorded an audio verse-by-verse teaching to accompany it. Previously this was only available through partnership, but it is now available as a standalone resource.
It includes the Life for Today Study Bible and Commentary: The Gospels Edition and over fifty-five hours of verse-by-verse teaching and commentary loaded onto one simple USB card as MP3 audio. In the old CD format, it required over seventy CDs. This study Bible and audio teaching together is valued at $600, but I am offering it for a gift of $155 or more.
I also encourage you to order our Destiny Stories DVD for a gift of $15 or more even if you do not become a Foundation Builder. Each story will encourage you to make the decision that will move you toward your own destiny.
The Lord has awesome things planned for your life. Regardless of what things look like now, your positive decisions can change everything.
God’s Value System
God wants you to discover the essential fact that every human person is created by Him, for
His lifestyle, to fulfill His purpose on this earth—and every person includes you.
To discover that principle puts your own life into perspective. It gives dignity, purpose and
value to living.
The greatest possible achievement in life is to be the terrific person God created you to be.
When God Lives in You
The most powerful concept you can hold is that God is in you. Your life is the very breath of God.
God’s life in you means His love is in you, limitless, healing, lifting, blessing you and others
The Bible says: Whatever you sow, you shall reap. Gal.6:7
* Whatever you plant, you will harvest.
* When you sow love and kindness, that is what you reap.
* If you sow judgment and condemnation, you will be judged and condemned by people.
* If you are merciful, you will reap mercy. Mat.5:7
This principle has lifted everyone who ever discovered it. It is God’s value system.
Jesus said, Give and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together and running over, shall others give to you. Lu.6:38
Jesus’ rule was: All things that you want people to do to you, do those things to them. Mat.7:12
Plant kindness in people and you will reap kindness. Heal people by planting seeds of love and you will reap healing love from others.
You are the master of your own harvest. Learn this greatest principle of life. Just plant in others the kind of seed you want to reap, and God will fulfill your greatest dreams.
The greatest tragedy in your life would be for you to live and die and never come out of yourself—to never realize the possibilities hidden within you.
Discover this principle and resolve that such shall never be the case in your life.
The greatest triumph in life is to discover yourself in Christ, to discover the rich, full happy life
He created you for, then to develop that unlimited life by sowing it in others and reaping God’s abundant lifestyle of total peace, happiness, success and fulfillment.
Grasp God’s viewpoint. Yield to His full development. Believe in the full potential of God at work in you.
Destiny Is Now at Work in You
Why were you chosen for this information which has lifted tens of thousands of people around the world? It is God’s way of saying:
“I love you. I created my best when I created you.
I paid a price for you and you are worth all I ever paid for you. I have destined my best for you.”
God is first class all the way. He created you unique. You are exceptional, one of a kind.
God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jn.3:16
All that is required of us to receive total justification before God, is that we simply believe with all of our hearts that Jesus Christ died in our place, and respond to such love by willingly confessing to others what we believe. Rom.10:9-10
Once we comprehend this and respond, an in-credible miracle takes place:
God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God’s goodness into us. 2Cor.5:21LB
Jesus Christ became the way back to God for you and for me. Through His sacrifice, He removed forever the condemnation of our sins and dissolved the bar-rier between us and God, so that we are now wel-
Excerpts from: YOU ARE GOD’S BEST 5
Come to return to His presence where we can once again share His lifestyle. Hebrews.10:18-22
We have been restored to the dignity and righteousness of God for which He originally created us. We have been justified
—as though we had never turned away from Him and had never sinned. When this miracle has come to pass, we are new creatures in Christ Jesus, and we must never again condemn, discredit or slander what God has paid so much to redeem and to justify.
Who You re in Christ
Six facts of the new Christ life:
God is what He says He is. I am what He says I am. God has what He says He has. I have what He says I have. God will do what He says He will do. I can do what He says I can do.
Start Your Own Miracle Now
I believe words are seeds. They have the ability to produce what they say. They are energizers. I believe that God’s words are energized by His own divine, miracle working life. He created the world by the power of His word, and the Bible says, the word of the Lord endures forever. 1Peter.1:25
His word is as powerful today as it ever was.
Excerpts from: YOU ARE GOD’S BEST 6
That is why we believe and teach the powerful and positive Gospel of Jesus Christ. Teaching about being created in God’s image, about His original design and plan for each human being, about His love for us even though we had sinned, about the price Jesus Christ paid to redeem us to God, about how to believe the Gospel and to accept Jesus as Savior, about God putting everyone here for a purpose so special that no one else on earth can do what they are here to do. Word-seeds have power. There is a remarkable statement about the power of Jesus’ words.
As he was teaching, the power of the Lord was there to heal the people. Luke.5:17
I urge you to personally accept the fact that you are a special creation of God and begin believing that by cooperating with God, you can discover new life through believing on Jesus Christ and through accepting Him by faith.
Love Proved Your Value
IT IS WONDERFUL when you get God’s view-point, His attitude about you and your life.
So now we have been made right in God’s sight be-cause of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. He has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to actually becoming all that God has had in mind for us to be. We are able to hold our heads high, for we know how dearly God loves us.
Living in God’s Best: Change your address and live in God’s best!
Divine health and prosperity are better than divine healing and provision. If you can’t see the difference between the two, then maybe you’re only visiting God’s best instead of truly living in it.
Many Christians live in a place where it’s just a matter of time before there’s a crisis in their lives and they need a miracle. Miracles are great when you need one, but you weren’t meant to continually get by on them. God wants to change where you live. Let Andrew show you how to live in God’s best today!
LIVING in God’s Best by Andrew Wommack
Don’t Settle for Less
I have been meditating on this teaching for several years now, and I believe the Lord wants me to share it in a much bigger way than I have before. It’s about living in God’s best.
The Lord has really impressed on me that the main reason we aren’t living in His best is because we are willing to settle for less. Sometimes we are influenced more by the world than by God’s Word. We have been “dumbed down” to accept far less than what God has provided. As long as we can live with less than God’s best, we will.
If you’re not experiencing His best, you have to get sick and tired of being sick and tired. You have to have a holy dissatisfaction with mediocrity before you can experience all that God has for you. It doesn’t happen accidentally or automatically. If you don’t aggressively pursue it, you won’t get it.
Everything in our fallen world naturally goes from good to bad. Things don’t get better without effort. We have to seek to find, knock to get the door opened, and ask before we receive (Matt. 7:7). We must raise our sights and aim higher. Most people are shooting at nothing and hitting it every time.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” The New International Version says His thoughts “give you hope and a future.”
When the Lord spoke to Jeremiah to write these words, Israel was devastated. The city
of Jerusalem had been destroyed, and many people had been taken captive to Babylon.
Thoughts of peace were probably the last thing on their minds.
But Jeremiah went on to say in verses 12-13,
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will
hearken unto you.  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall
search for me with all your heart.
I’ve had people tell me they prayed and believed God, but nothing happened. These scriptures in Jeremiah promise otherwise. The key is, you have to seek with ALL your heart. That’s the missing element. You have to reach a point where you won’t live with anything less than God’s best.
This attitude is missing in the lives of far too many Christians. The bar of expectation has been lowered in regards to healing, finances, and more. I am not trying to condemn anyone. We have all been raised in and influenced by an ungodly culture. And nobody learns how to receive God’s best overnight. It’s a process, but we need to begin moving in that direction. I haven’t arrived there either, but I have left and am on my way.
I have told this story before, but it is such a good illustration that I want to share it again. A man asked for prayer in one of my meetings and told me about a terrible pain in his neck, in addition to a long list of other problems: his sciatic nerve causing leg and foot pain, neuropathy, and on and on.
Then he said, “But if God could just heal the pain in my neck, I could live with the rest.” I said, “Well, I understand. If we asked God to heal all of those things at once, the lights in heaven might dim. I’m not sure God could pull that off.”
The guy just looked at me for a minute and then replied, “That was pretty stupid, wasn’t it?” And I agreed. You see, we don’t have to settle for less than complete healing–God’s best. Like this man, it’s that attitude that keeps people from receiving their healings.
Christians should be walking in supernatural healing and financial prosperity. Many, however, are just as sick and broke as their unsaved neighbors. You will never receive God’s best until you become completely dissatisfied with second best–dissatisfied with mediocrity.
One of these days, we are all going to stand before God. And when we do, we will know all things even as we are known (1 Cor. 13:12). In an instant, we are going to know what we could have had while on this earth. We will understand that the same power that raised Christ from the dead was present within us all along (Eph. 1:18-20).
Unless you’re willing to stand and fight the fight of faith, you will be overcome by this world. If you don’t stir yourself up, you will settle to the bottom. The world isn’t going to encourage you toward God’s best, and most Christians aren’t either.
We have to recognize that it’s all about receiving what God has already done and not about getting God to do something He has yet to do. We don’t need God to heal us; by His stripes, we were healed (1 Pet. 2:24). That miraculous healing power is already in us. We don’t need God to move; we need to believe what He has already done and then learn how to receive it.
I want to encourage you to live in God’s best. I’ve written a new book filled with truths that can change the results you’re seeing in your life. For information on how to get your copy, go to http://www.LivingInGodsBest.com.
“Debbie’s music speaks to matters of the heart. Her candor is refreshing. She creates an atmosphere where people want to surrender themselves and hear from Christ. And they do!”
“Debbie is a Wife, a Mother-of-Three, Women’s Speaker, Award-Winning Recording Artist, Singer, Songwriter, Worship Pastor, and Pianist. She weaves her spoken messages, testimony, stories and worshipful, encouraging music into a well-received gift of real – and Biblical — refreshment to audiences of all ages and stages.”
“After a miraculous healing, Debbie began her public ministry as a young 13-year-old, where she became the full time pianist at her father’s C&MA Church in Oregon, USA.” (Above quoted from various online sources)
Here is a testimony about her musical gift:
(quoted from her blog)
“When I was just 5 years old, I began to play the piano without ever being taught. It was pretty sudden … and surprising. I couldn’t understand why I suddenly understood how all of those 88 piano keys “worked together” so beautifully, but it was as clear to me as the blazing sun! But the timing of it was wonderfully suspicious. Just two weeks after I said “YES!” to Jesus, I realized that I could play the piano, by ear. It became obvious to me and my parents that something got downloaded into my five-year-old self that represented a gift, and a calling. But the music my fingers produced never came from black notes on a page. Music came out of my heart. In fact, there were times when I thought only half the gift got downloaded, and the other half was still floating around in spiritual cyber-space. I still can barely read a note, and greatly struggle with memory, learning disabilities and other issues! God certainly has a sense of humour, because during the past 9 albums — four of them instrumental piano CDs — that were recorded, not a single sheet of music containing any of those confusing little black notes were even to be seen in the recording studio!”
Concerning her miraculous healing, she said, “The call of the Lord upon my life began when I was nine years old. I felt a specific call to ministry. At that time, I had been struck with a debilitating disease that ransacked me for three years. They still have not been able to diagnose the disease. They think it was a strain of polio,” the singer recalls.
Fortnum continues, “I couldn’t do much except sit down at the piano and play. I just began to develop this incredible love relationship with the Lord. I would play, read and sing scripture. The songs began to pour out of me and it was within the context of pain. I started when I was nine and then when I was twelve God miraculously healed me. I believe the Lord used that experience to reroute me. He wanted me in music and ministry.” (Quoted from an article published at http://www.growthtrac.com/debbie-fortnum/ On “several hundred women gathered at Sagemont Church in Houston Texas to listen to Debbie Fortnum the keynote speaker for Ladies Night Out a quarterly women’s conference.”)
Here is a song from her based on Bible verses:
DEBBIE FORTNUM — “I Know The Plans” Jer. 29:11
Words and Music by Debbie Fortnum
I know the plans I have for you,
declares the Lord
I know the plans I have for you,
declares the Lord
I have great plans to prosper you,
declares the Lord
I have great plans to prosper you,
declares the Lord
To give you a hope, to give you a future,
says the Lord
To give you a hope, to give you a future,
says the Lord
And not to harm you
No I will never harm you
I want to show you all of My miracles
And I want to know you and
I want you to know Me
I want to show you
in the years ahead together
The beauty of My plans,
you’re in very capable hands
I know the plans I have for you
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
In 1997 Rev. Blake was given a copy of a manual used by Dr. Lake to train his Divine Healing Technicians (DHT’s). Since that time Bro. Curry has been traveling and training Christians in how to minister healing to the sick. Thousands of DHT’s have been trained around the U.S. and the world. Over 30,000 healings per month are being reported by these average men and women of God. Every type of disease has been healed and several dead have been raised.
The Mullins Family Story. When the Mullins’ 17-month-old son was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, their lives were turned upside down. See how God’s word transformed the Mullins’ lives. (Excerpts quoted from the original website)
– Amazed By Grace –
Mike and Aster Mullins live with their family in Buncrana, Co. Donegal, Ireland, the home of the famous hymn, Amazing Grace. In September of 2009, they welcomed their fourth son into the world. Their new baby, Andrew, was the Mullins’ fifth child, and from the beginning, Aster considered him her victory baby.
In December 2010, Mike and Aster noticed something was bothering Andrew…
On February 25, 2011 the Mullins were told that Andrew had a very aggressive form of cancer called, High Risk Neuroblastoma. He was already at stage four and had a tumor measuring 7cm x 8cm x 21cm. Andrew was just 17 months old.
The Mullins, stunned by the news, found their lives turned upside down…Bone marrow tests and further, more invasive, scanning of Andrew’s body revealed that he had over 90% cancer in his bone marrow, and that the disease was in every bone of his body apart from his hands and his feet.
As they turned to the God they knew for help, they began to pray and plead for healing. In an effort to mobilize as many people as possible to pray for his son, Mike immediately set up a Facebook page for Andrew. The page brought nearly 5000 people together to “storm heavens gates” on Andrew’s behalf. Their battle raged…
Among the mail the family received after Grace’s birth, was a parcel which included Andrew Wommack’s teaching series, God Wants You Well. “The title, funny enough, really didn’t do it for me at all. At the time I was so raw, I thought, yeah right, what do I have to do for that?” recalled Aster. She and Mike put the teaching on a shelf—literally—for months.
…but after nearly six months of rigorous cancer treatment, and thousands of prayers and prayer meetings, Andrew’s progress was slower than expected, …they thought. “Do I have to beg God to have mercy on my child? Do I, as a human being, have more compassion than God does,” Mike wondered. Their prayer life changed at that point, from prayers begging God to help, to prayers asking God to teach them to pray.
Both Aster and Mike were exhausted…Mike, as tired and frustrated as he was, didn’t want to be in survival mode, he wanted to be in more-than-a-conqueror-mode. He also wanted to know what the Bible had to say about healing. It was at this low point, …that they finally listened to the first disk of the God Wants You Well series. Something in the message resonated deep within their hearts. “Wow, water to my parched, parched, dried out soul,” Aster declared.
“Although we had never heard this before, it was as if we had,” said Mike with regard to Andrew’s teaching. As the two listened and re-listened to the series they became convinced that it is always God’s will to heal and that He did want their son well. “We don’t have to storm Heaven’s gates, God is not the oppressor, nor was He using Andrew’s sickness to teach us a lesson,” realized Mike. They continued downloading and listening to Andrew’s teaching, and they were transformed by rightly discerning the Word of God.
God used Andrew’s teaching to point the Mullins back to His Word where they found promises to stand on for their son’s healing. “We found promises in the Word of God, such as in the book of Proverbs (15:30) where it says good news brings health to your bones.” said Mike.
After their eyes were opened to the Truth, they went to their son, and laid their hands on him with confident expectation. “We put our hands on his thigh bones and his pelvis and we said, ‘Bones, we’ve got good news for you, By His stripes you were healed (1 Peter 2:24). And in faith, with a total conviction in my heart, we spoke that Bible verse standing on the Word of God,” said Aster.
After their prayer, Andrew was tested to see if he had made any progress. To the hospital staff’s surprise, he had. The Mullins’ consultant called and she said, “I don’t know how to tell you this, but everything regarding Andrew is up in the air.” To which Mike inquired, “Is it up in the air good or up in the air bad? She said, “It’s up in the air good. Every one of Andrew’s bones are completely clean of cancer… We really didn’t expect this.”
While the news was unexpected by the doctors, it wasn’t a surprise to the Mullins. “We had learned how to pray with authority, and it worked,” said Mike.
Andrew still had active cancer near his spine, and due to its location, it was inoperable. As Andrew went in for continued treatment, Aster asked the Lord for something more. After the victory in Andrew’s bones, she felt they were finished using scriptures about bones—she asked the Lord for another weapon.
Faithful as always, the Lord showed Aster the story of Ehud (Judges 3:12-25). Through this passage, Aster saw her weapon revealed; …After treatment, when Andrew was tested again for cancer, and for any damage caused by the treatment, his results came back perfect; there was no sign of cancer or damage to any of his organs. His eyesight, hearing, heart, lungs and both kidneys were perfect.
The Mullins chose to believe what they had learned from Andrew Wommack, the truth about God—that it is always His will to heal—always…
(quoted) James Robison recently discussed the 2016 Presidential election with evangelist Andrew Wommack:
James Robison: Andrew, your leadership role is greater now than it’s ever been. I really appreciated you sharing on your television program your wise and legitimate concern not only for our nation, but for freedom. Why do you feel so compelled to try to impress upon Christians the importance of this particular time and election?
Andrew Wommack: I think if Christians would have been vocal a long time ago, we wouldn’t even be in this situation. This situation is not just a Democrat or Republican issue; it’s an issue that has been brooding for a generation at least of the church being silent. I felt impressed that as a leader in the body of Christ I must encourage Christians to get out and vote. Then we also highlighted some of the issues. For example, I think whether you like the candidate or not, there are important issues such as the Supreme Court. We’re going to establish the Supreme Court for the next generation whether it’s liberal or whether it’s conservative. Issues about Israel — pro-Israel or against it. All of the issues regarding ISIS and people coming into our borders. We are really fighting for our nation. This is a pivotal election.
Robison: The differences in the two platforms are distinct. This is the most conservative platform one party has ever put forth, and the most liberal, anti-God ever put forth by the other. The right to life, Supreme Court, attack on freedom of religion, the whole tendency to teach people to depend on the federal government like it’s another Pharaoh and they can’t make it without him — that totally flies in the face of everything biblical and everything that has proven catastrophic historically.
Wommack: After those programs aired, the Trump campaign contacted me because we pointed out the exact things you are saying. They wanted me to endorse Donald Trump and I told them, “Look, it’s not that I am endorsing this person and all he does. I am endorsing the policies that he has vocally stood for. In my way of thinking there is no other stance that a Christian can take. Just like you’re saying one platform is anti-God, and the other one, at least the platform, has conservative values. We are all disappointed in the way politicians say one thing and do another, but you certainly don’t want to go with someone who is promising they are going to do everything against the Christian community.
We need to get to where we don’t let our personal offenses at some things overshadow the issues. The issues are critical and they are daylight and dark different between the Democrat and Republican parties.
Robison: I think the real issue is whether or not the church is going to behave like a healthy body of Christ, submitted to the head, rightly connected to one another, and whether or not we’re going to look like the family of the perfect Father that the fatherless world desperately needs to see.
One of the things that Christians tend to say is, “Your way of saying you are wrong needs to be said according to our dictates, our impression or our spiritual knowledge.” David really wept, broken and contrite, but he didn’t do it until Nathan pointed his finger in his face. It took a long time for him to get around to the contrition that in our eyes is so appropriate. But we don’t see that in Simon Peter after he denied Jesus three items. I don’t see him saying, “I’m sorry. I was wrong.” He said, “You know …” Of course we sense in that brokenness. And then he had an encounter with God and was the keynote speaker at Pentecost. I don’t think many church leaders today would have approved Simon Peter for the keynote address at Pentecost right after his denial.
Wommack: It’s not just a personality issue. You’ve got to look at the issues. The issues the Republicans are standing for line up with scripture, and the issues the Democrats are for are not according to scripture. I am not voting for a pastor in chief, I’m voting for a commander in chief. Trump has taken a strong stand against ISIS, and I believe his point that ISIS wouldn’t have existed without Hillary’s help. I believe that’s all true. I’m having to vote the issues, not a personality.
Robison: We don’t seem to realize there is more to it than personalities. For me, I won’t let up speaking the truth to whoever is elected. I am going to keep holding up the standard of God to all of them and I’m going to say to all of America, we’ve got to quit supporting these things that are absolutely certain to bring judgment and destruction on the people that support deception and the murder of the innocent, the casting aside of marriage, family and human sexuality. How can the church even be arguing among themselves when the issues are so serious?
Wommack: You would have thought after they brought up the videos that showed babies having their skulls cut open and their brains harvested to sell would have caused such an uproar that anyone who supported that would not be able to run for president, yet Hillary has supported that and we’ve got to take a stand against it.
Robison: The real key is whether we as Christians, and especially Christian leaders and pastors, are going to stop judging one another’s actions when we don’t even know all of the details. Just like one of the candidates said, “I would like to have wise spiritual counsel from leaders who are not agreeing to endorse me, but who will tell me the truth.” It looks like you would not be criticizing those people who said, “We want to go in and speak the truth as much as possible.” I’ve been talking to Mr. Trump head on and sowing faithfully the truth of God’s Word. I am sowing seed and trusting God that His Word won’t return void. Yet it seems like people who are praying with him and for him are being accused of supporting the wrong person while we’re doing nothing but proclaiming the truth. How do you feel about that?
Wommack: The same thing has happened to me and people have criticized me about it. I fought in Vietnam and there were people that behind the scenes I didn’t agree with on much of anything. Many of them had views that were completely opposite mine, but when we were in battle, we stood next to each other and fought together. I learned you do not have to like a person to be able to endorse them and stand with them when they are fighting evil. That’s what we’ve got to do in this election.
We invite you to join us October 29, 2016 for a powerful time of teaching as Andrew shares the Word of God. I am beautiful. God has a plan for me that no one else on earth can do as well as I can. He believes in me and He trusts me. I am a member of royalty. No one can ever stop God and me together. We are people lifters.
This is the message today.
You are somebody. You are loved and you are important. God believes in you. You are His workmanship. Wonderfully designed and made by His loving hands. You are part of his best plan. You are unique.
Say this and think this, pray this and sing this until you actually believe just as God does. When you do, you will be dynamite.
You can confidently say this because God has paid a great price for you. A priceless price with His beloved Son, Jesus.
He would not pay for a nobody. You are worth what Jesus has paid for you.
Think of the great price you are worth.
Because you look now at the worth God has for you, you no longer want to destroy or cheapen yourself.
Realize you are representing God. You are His royal ambassador. Your outlook takes on new meaning and worth. You can value and lift others just as God has lifted you.
Say this: I am here on God’s behalf. God works in me and through me. I am made for God to live in and through.
Because God lives inside you and works inside you, you look inside and see the you as God has designed and worked. Live your life inside out.
God’s Best is always the Best. Can we become His best? Someone brought back this little book from USA. When I searched online I found a pdf excerpted book. The principles are simple and clear. I recommend for everyone who likes to know more about what it means to be God’s Best for yourself and your loved ones.
Here are some pages from the excerpts:
Through this book, my father will help you to make the greatest discovery you can ever make—your identity with God. — LaDonna C. Osborn
YOU ARE GOD’S BEST
What You Talk Is What You Produce Whether your words are positive or negative, they are seeds. They will produce. Whatever you sow you will personally reap. It is impossible to negate that law.
The New Confession
I am created in God’s likeness. I am somebody important in God’s eyes. He believes in me. He loves me and needs me. I am part of His plan.
God loves me as much as He loves anyone else. It is God who caused me to write this book for you, so you can discover that YOU ARE GOD’S BEST.
Start Your Miracle
THE BASIC PRINCIPLE to be discovered in this book is so powerful that it will actually start the miracle you need in life. God’s power will begin working in you as you go through the pages. You will discover this great principle if you are alert to it in your heart.
You can grasp any principle you are ready for. The seeds that will be planted in you through this book will produce God’s best in your life. They will work like a miracle.
Destiny Is Now at Work in You
Why were you chosen for this information which has lifted tens of thousands of people around the world? It is God’s way of saying: “I love you. I created my best when I created you. I paid a price for you and you are worth all I ever paid for you. I have destined my best for you.”
God is first class all the way. He created you unique. You are exceptional, one of a kind.
God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jn.3:16
All that is required of us to receive total justification before God, is that we simply believe with all of our hearts that Jesus Christ died in our place, and respond to such love by willingly confessing to others what we believe. Rom.10:9-10
Once we comprehend this and respond, an incredible miracle takes place: God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God’s goodness into us. 2Cor.5:21LB
Jesus Christ became the way back to God for you and for me. Through His sacrifice, He removed forever the condemnation of our sins and dissolved the barrier between us and God, so that we are now welcome to return to His presence where we can once again share His lifestyle. He.10:18-22 We have been restored to the dignity and righteousness of God for which He originally created us. We have been justified—as though we had never turned away from Him and had never sinned. When this miracle has come to pass, we are new creatures in Christ Jesus, and we must never again condemn, discredit or slander what God has paid so much to redeem and to justify. Who You Are in Christ Six facts of the new Christ life:
1.God is what He says He is.
2.I am what He says I am.
3.God has what He says He has.
4.I have what He says I have.
5.God will do what He says He will do.
6.I can do what He says I can do. Start Your Own Miracle Now
Say: “I accept the value that God has put on me.”
Valued in God’s Plan
Jesus welcomes you and loves you, like you are. Let God become, in and through you, all that He is. Learn to say: It was love’s idea to not let me die in my sins. Jesus proved how much God values me. He paid for me by giving His life in my place. I am worth what God paid for me. I shall never again condemn what God has paid so much to redeem. I shall never put down what cost God so much to raise up. God planned that whatever could be said about Him, could be said about you.
God’s Value System
God wants you to discover the essential fact that every human person is created by Him, for His lifestyle, to fulfill His purpose on this earth— and every person includes you.
To discover that principle puts your own life into perspective. It gives dignity, purpose and value to living. The greatest possible achievement in life is to be the terrific person God created you to be. Here are seven statements about you which I hope you will engrave in your mind, by rehearing them until they become a part of you: 1. I am created in God’s likeness. 2. I am unique-one of a kind. 3. I am of infinite value-to God and to others. 4. I am loved, in spite of my faults. 5. I am redeemed and accepted by the Lord. 6. I am empowered for His divine service to others. 7. I am commissioned as an ambassador in his royal kingdom.
Editorial Reviews from Amazon (excerpts)
The ministries of T. L. and Daisy Osborn have made an unprecedented impact on the world in our time. They are valued among the great soul winners of this century. Their life commitment: To express and to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ to people throughout the world.
Their guiding principle: the top priority of the church is the evangelization of the world. The Osborns have conducted mass crusades in over 70 nations, preaching to audiences ranging from 20,000 to 250,000 nightly and more.
The Osborns have probably reached and led more unreached souls to Jesus Christ in non-Christian lands, and may have witnessed more great healing miracles, than any other couple who has ever yet lived. Their team efforts in world evangelism are truly pace-setting as they proclaim the good news to the world: that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8).
A human is a three-in-one: body, soul (mind and emotion) and spirit. Today we read and ponder about how our body can be well and healthy.
1 Corinthians 6:15 Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? Should a man take his body, which is part of Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never!
1 Corinthians 6:16 And don’t you realize that if a man joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? For the Scriptures say, “The two are united into one.”
1 Corinthians 6:18 Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.
1 Corinthians 6:19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,
1 Corinthians 6:20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
1 Corinthians 7:4 The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.
1 Corinthians 7:34 His interests are divided. In the same way, a woman who is no longer married or has never been married can be devoted to the Lord and holy in body and in spirit. But a married woman has to think about her earthly responsibilities and how to please her husband.
1 Corinthians 9:27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
1 Corinthians 10:16 When we bless the cup at the Lord’s Table, aren’t we sharing in the blood of Christ? And when we break the bread, aren’t we sharing in the body of Christ?
1 Corinthians 10:17 And though we are many, we all eat from one loaf of bread, showing that we are one body.
1 Corinthians 11:24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
1 Corinthians 11:27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.
1 Corinthians 11:29 For if you eat the bread or drink the cup without honoring the body of Christ, you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself.
1 Corinthians 12:12 [ One Body with Many Parts ] The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:13 Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:14 Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part.
1 Corinthians 12:15 If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body.
1 Corinthians 12:16 And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body?
1 Corinthians 12:17 If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?
1 Corinthians 12:19 How strange a body would be if it had only one part!
1 Corinthians 12:20 Yes, there are many parts, but only one body.
1 Corinthians 12:22 In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.
1 Corinthians 12:24 while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity.
1 Corinthians 12:27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
1 Corinthians 13:3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
1 Corinthians 15:35 [ The Resurrection Body ] But someone may ask, “How will the dead be raised? What kind of bodies will they have?”
1 Corinthians 15:38 Then God gives it the new body he wants it to have. A different plant grows from each kind of seed.
1 Corinthians 15:46 What comes first is the natural body, then the spiritual body comes later.
Isaiah 35New Living Translation (NLT)
Hope for Restoration
Even the wilderness and desert will be glad in those days.
The wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses.
2 Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers
and singing and joy!
The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon,
as lovely as Mount Carmel or the plain of Sharon.
There the Lord will display his glory,
the splendor of our God.
3 With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands,
and encourage those who have weak knees.
4 Say to those with fearful hearts,
“Be strong, and do not fear,
for your God is coming to destroy your enemies.
He is coming to save you.”
5 And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind
and unplug the ears of the deaf.
6 The lame will leap like a deer,
and those who cannot speak will sing for joy!
Springs will gush forth in the wilderness,
and streams will water the wasteland.
7 The parched ground will become a pool,
and springs of water will satisfy the thirsty land.
Marsh grass and reeds and rushes will flourish
where desert jackals once lived.
8 And a great road will go through that once deserted land.
It will be named the Highway of Holiness.
Evil-minded people will never travel on it.
It will be only for those who walk in God’s ways;
fools will never walk there.
9 Lions will not lurk along its course,
nor any other ferocious beasts.
There will be no other dangers.
Only the redeemed will walk on it.
10 Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return.
They will enter Jerusalem[a] singing,
crowned with everlasting joy.
Sorrow and mourning will disappear,
and they will be filled with joy and gladness.
A belief in God may make people healthier and happier, according to new studies. “Studies have shown prayer can prevent people from getting sick — and when they do get sick, prayer can help them get better faster,” This is the scientific finding of Harold G. Koenig who is a psychiatrist on the faculty of Duke University. His ideas have been covered in Newsweek and other news media with regard to religion, spirituality and health, a focus of some of his research and clinical practice. Dr. Koenig says a striking study published in the Southern Medical Journal demonstrated that prayer has a remarkable effect on patients with hearing and visual deficiencies.
Koenig has published over 280 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, scholarly professional journal articles and 60 chapters in professional books.In a cooperation with Raphael M. Bonelli from Sigmund Freud University Vienna he undertook the first systematic evidence based analysis on the connection between mental disorders and religion. The researchers conclude that there is good evidence that religious involvement is correlated with better mental health in the areas of depression, substance abuse, and suicide; some evidence in Stress-related disorders and dementia. Dr. Koenig has given testimony before the U.S. Senate (1998) and U.S. House of Representatives (2008) concerning the benefits of religion and spirituality on public health, and travels widely to give seminars and workshops on this topic.
An exhaustive analysis of more than 1,500 reputable medical studies “indicates people who are more religious and pray more have better mental and physical health,” Dr. Koenig says. “And out of 125 studies that looked at the link between health and regular worship, 85 showed regular churchgoers live longer. After prayer sessions, “They showed significant improvements based on audio and visual tests,” Dr. Koenig said.
His studies have shown positive correlation in people practicing community faith and religious commitment, and better coping in lives: better stress management, more hope, more optimistic, less depression, less anxiety, and they commit suicide less often. “They have stronger immune systems, lower blood pressure, and probably better cardiovascular functioning.”
Researcher and writer Tom Knox agreed with the findings. Knox was an atheist who became a Christian after studying faith and medicine.
The proof of the power of prayer is overwhelming, says researcher and writer Tom Knox, a one-time atheist who became a regular worshiper after doing in-depth study of the medical benefits of faith. “What I discovered astonished me,” admits Knox. “Over the past 30 years a growing and largely unnoticed body of scientific work shows religious belief is medically, socially, and psychologically beneficial.”
In 2006, population researchers at the University of Texas discovered that the more often you go to church, the longer you live. “There is a seven-year difference in life expectancy between those who never attend church and those who attend weekly.”
The American Journal of Public Health studied nearly 2,000 older Californians for five years and found that those who attended religious services were 36 percent less likely to die during that period than those who didn’t.
A study of nearly 4,000 older adults for the U.S. Journal of Gerontology revealed that atheists had a significantly increased chance of dying over a six-year period than the faithful.
The American Society of Hypertension established in 2006 that church-goers have lower blood pressure than non-believers.
Scientists have also revealed believers recover from breast cancer quicker than non-believers, have better outcomes from coronary disease and rheumatoid arthritis, and are less likely to have children with meningitis.
Research at San Francisco General Hospital looked at the effect of prayer on 393 cardiac patients. Half were prayed for by strangers who had only the patients’ names. Those patients had fewer complications, fewer cases of pneumonia, and needed less drug treatment, recovered faster and left the hospital earlier.
Concluded Knox: “Atheists can sneer at faith all they like, but they can’t assume science is on their side.”
We read God’s words because healing is in His words. Psalm 107:20 He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death.
The greatest fear human has is sickness whether it is acute or prolonged. Is there any cure? How long will it take? This is the number one question today. We seek to find an answer today, reading the Bible with healing and sickness in mind.
I found these word “plague” and “strike” being used in the following passage from Isaiah. My notes are in italics. The definition of “plague”: ORIGIN late Middle English: Latin plaga ‘stroke, wound,’ probably from Greek (Doric dialect) plaga, from a base meaning ‘strike.’
Bible verses are quoted from New Living Translation (NLT) First we hear the good news of how not to have “plague” fall on us:
Psalm 91:9-11 9 If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels
to protect you wherever you go. What to do to stop “plague”from prolonging? Take immediate action to deal with it.
29 They angered the Lord with all these things, so a plague broke out among them.
30 But Phinehas had the courage to intervene, and the plague was stopped.
31 So he has been regarded as a righteous man ever since that time.
Here are the four passages from Isaiah which described the word “strike”: “Strike” comes from the enemies (attack from outside: physical and spiritual)
Isaiah 9:12 The Syrians from the east and the Philistines from the west will bare their fangs and devour Israel. But even then the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied. His fist is still poised to strike. “Strike” comes from within (harmful lifestyle: attitude and behavior)
Isaiah 9:17 That is why the Lord takes no pleasure in the young men and shows no mercy even to the widows and orphans. For they are all wicked hypocrites, and they all speak foolishness. But even then the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied. His fist is still poised to strike. “Strike” comes from strife and violence
Isaiah 9:21 Manasseh will feed on Ephraim, Ephraim will feed on Manasseh, and both will devour Judah. But even then the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied. His fist is still poised to strike. “Strike” comes from bondages and oppressions
Isaiah 10:4 You will stumble along as prisoners or lie among the dead. But even then the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied. His fist is still poised to strike.
Here is the good news which was prophesied by Isaiah in the same chapter which I quoted above about the “strike” (including sickness, suffering). The prophecy has been fulfilled. Isaiah 9 HOPE in the MESSIAH -JESUS
9 Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory.
2 The people who walk in darkness
will see a great light.
For those who live in a land of deep darkness,
a light will shine.
3 You will enlarge the nation of Israel,
and its people will rejoice.
They will rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest
and like warriors dividing the plunder.
4 For you will break the yoke of their slavery
and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders.
You will break the oppressor’s rod,
just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian.
5 The boots of the warrior
and the uniforms bloodstained by war
will all be burned.
They will be fuel for the fire.
6 For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor,[d] Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 His government and its peace
will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David
for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
will make this happen! HERE IS WHAT JESUS HAS DONE ABOUT SICKNESS AND SINS
4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried;
it was our sorrows that weighed him down.
And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God,
a punishment for his own sins!
5 But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.
6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.
Sickness has been a major concern in the history of mankind. Here is a common scene in Biblical time. Lots of people bring their sick relatives and friends for healing by Jesus. Even today many seek healing everywhere. Jesus says sickness actually comes from within a person. Today we continue on this topic by reading at random the example of David, how he became sick when he allowed himself to be controlled by his emotion: anger (against self and against God) and fear (fear of failure; fear of further tragedies; fear of being punished for wrong doings), self-condemnation (self-doubt, low self-esteem), distrust of God (unbelief of God’s goodness), indulgences in sexual and worldly desires and lusts (of the flesh, eyes and pride of life).
Read the whole history of David and you will find more examples of what was inside him that defiled him. Do not think that David’s complaints about his sickness is spiritual. David was a man of flesh even though he sought after God. One thing we can learn from him is he did not give up . He repented, turned back to God and got well again. But he really suffered in body and in soul. He also gave his honest accounts of the causes of his illness and how he finally resorted to spiritual remedies.
1Chronicles 13:11 David was angry (with God) because the Lord’s anger had burst out against Uzzah (the priest who was killed when he violated God’s holy law). David was probably also angry with himself as he did not follow God’s law too when he ordered the moving of the Ark. 13:12 David was now afraid of God, and he asked, “How can I ever bring the Ark back into my care?” He indulged in self-doubt and self-condemnation after the tragedy of the death of a priest in the course of his duty of obeying David’ command to bring the Ark on a bullock cart! David consulted before he decided how to move the Ark. But he consulted the wrong persons. He consulted his officials, including the generals and captains. (13:1) He did not consult the priests. He mixed up flesh with spiritual matters. 14:3 Then David married more wives in Jerusalem. He decided to put aside God’s matters and pursued his own personal enjoyment. This episode is an example of how David lived his life as a carnal king.
The above recorded a historical event in David’s life.
Let us now read some psalms at random and in parts and see what kind of sickness David had suffered in his lifetime, physical and mental (mind and emotion):
Psalm 22:6 But I am a worm and not a man. 22:14 My life is poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax, melting within me. 15 My strength has dried up like sunbaked clay. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have laid me in the dust and left me or dead. Psalm 30:6 When I was prosperous, I said, “Nothing can stop me now!” 7 Your favor, O Lord, made me as secure as a mountain. Then You turned away from me, and I was shattered. Psalm 31:9 My body and soul are withering away. 10 Sin has drained my strength. 13 I have heard the many rumors about me, and I am surrounded by terror. Psalm 32:3 When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Psalm 38:3 Because of Your anger, my whole body is sick; (David first blamed it on God) my health is broken because of my sins. (David soon admitted that his own sins caused the sickness and not God) 4 My guilt overwhelms me-it is a burden too heavy to bear. 5 My wounds fester and stink because of my foolish sins. 6 I am bent over and racked with pain. All day long I walk around filled with grief. 7 A raging fever burns within me , and my health is broken. 8 I am exhausted and completely crushed. My groans come from my anguished heart. 10 My heart beats wildly, my strength fails, and I am going blind.
Parenting does not come naturally. Adam and Eve did not do a good job and their eldest son murdered the second son. Adam knew all the right things in sacrifice and Abel learned and obeyed. Cain was taught but did not obey. In the end he chose to be overcome by sin: be jealous and covetous, vented his anger on God and on his brother, be a killer, would rather be banished from God’s presence than to reconcile with God by asking for forgiveness, would rather be condemned than to be saved, would rather walk by flesh rather than walk by the Spirit. Two sons. Abel turned out well and godly. Cain turned out evil. Why? Adam and Eve taught them the same living kills, the same moral principles, the same godly examples. One was the son of God. The other the son of the devil. Adam and Eve could not do anything about the choice made by their son. Why? today’s parents ask the same question too.
Why? I have seen many examples of good and evil living side by side in the same family. I recall the teaching of Jesus about God sowing good seeds for grains. But the devil come at night and sow bad seeds for weeds. On harvest the Lord will send His angels to burn the weeds first and then reap the good harvest of the produce of His good seeds. It means there will always be good and bad outcome in the same family among the siblings born of the same parents. Quite a frightening and sad thought. Is there anything the parents can do about it?
My observation is that often it is the parents who are the bad seeds. The parent(s) set an evil example in disobedience of their own parents. The parent(s) tell lies and says evil things of others. The parent(s) block the child from going to God and His words. The parent(s) choosing to live by flesh and giving all sorts of excuses for their own sins. The parent(s) choose to follow the world and not God’s way. Many more of such examples of parental failure.
Jesus and the apostles have clearly taught that what we sow will be what we reap. Why do Christian parents ignore God’s words? I ask. My conclusion is that they do not really believe in God. The reality of God. The reality of the Holy Spirit. The reality of God’s words. Whenever I offer God’s words to them after listening to their complaints about their children or parents they look impatient and turn their heart away. They do not want a permanent solution by healing the root cause of the sickness. They only want a bandaid. frightening and sad when I see the pattern of Adam and Eve repeating. Cain and Abel appearing. The blessed and the cursed. The innocent one being murdered. The evil one choosing a destiny to be condemned. The worst is that the parent(s) too becomes the condemned as they continue to ignore God’s way.
It is hard to remain silent. I pray for them. But I get older and more tired. I now appreciate how my own mother had prayed for her children, her siblings, her neighbors, her church members too. Was she ever sad? Was she ever tired? What about the early church disciples? Were they ever tired and sad as they prayed? Reading the Scripture we see that the disciples encountered the same problems. They merely pressed on always upward toward the goals that Jesus had called them. Was Jesus Himself ever tired and sad as He knew all about the heart of the ones He prayed for? Did He give up? He prayed until His last breath.
There is a sickness which is often ignored or neglected in treatment or seeking for treatment. Parent(s) with coercive control syndrome. Please seek treatment. You are hurting your child.
What is Coercive Control?
Maypole define it as an act or a pattern of acts of assault, threats, humiliation and intimidation or other abuse that is used to harm, punish, or frighten their victim
The Tactics include domestic violence: ‘violating physical integrity’, causing fear and physical harm
intimidation and humiliation: ‘denial of respect and autonomy’ using threats, surveillance (eg stalking), degradation (eg name calling), emotional withdrawal, destruction of possessions
isolation: undermining and deprivation of social contacts and support
control: of resources required for autonomous decision making and independence, including
deprivation of money and food
monitoring of time
restricted mobility and transportation
restricted access to communication
Dear Dr. ,
I am the mother of three children, ages 10, 13, and 15. My question is how parents can help their children make and keep New Year’s resolutions and goals. Also, how do we help keep our children accountable throughout the year, especially when we see our own resolutions slipping?
When we “help” children do anything good, . . . this is a function of “influence.” There are three fundamental ways of influencing others:
Coercion motivates by Fear. Others will conform to coercive influence out of fear for the harsh consequences that will come crashing upon them. Conformity means that a person will at least try to “look like” they are doing what is desired; but those oppressed by coercive influence rarely put their whole heart into a task.
Modes of Coercion: Control, Intimidation, Threat, Demand, Manipulation, Bullying, Criticizing, Rage, Anger, Revenge, Guilt.
Coercive Influence is Temporary & Reactive. The “apparent” desired behavior only happens as long as a fear-producing threat is present.
* * * * * * *
Cooperation motivates by Fairness. Others will do what you want them to do . . . because a cooperative contract is in place: You do this for me, . . . and I’ll do this for you. In latin the idea is expressed as Quid Pro Quo, . . .”something for something.”
Modes of Cooperation: Exchange, Dicker, Deal, Trade, Barter, Contract, Negotiate, and Compromise.
Cooperative Influence is Functional & Reactive. The exchange is pragmatic and mutually beneficial, but the desired behavior only happens as long as a payoff is in place.
* * * * * * *
Compassion motivates through Honor. Others will do what they do, . . . because they honor you — honor that is freely chosen and proactively initiated, it is neither coerced or purchased by a bargain.
Modes of Compassion: Inviting, Accepting, Acknowledging, Respectful, Patient, Kind, Gentle, Loving, Space-Giving, and Open to Creative Possibilities.
Compassionate Influence is Sustained & Proactive. Desired behavior endures beyond moments of direct influence, because those who feel compassionate influence do what they do from heart-felt independence; the experience of loving influence inspires others to live with honor.
* * * * * * *
Obviously, if parents will influence their children optimally in setting and getting good goals, . . . they will do it through compassionate influence, . . . only then will the children do what they do because they own it, . . . and they feel it. This is the way of Honor.
The setting and getting of all good goals stands upon the foundation of a person’s integrity of character. Parents can best instill integrity in their children as they demonstrate that compassionate pattern by example. Parents must “live” the same pattern and principles to which they invite their children.
The “goal” of higher character is a foundational one. When high character is firmly in place, productive goal setting and goal getting naturally flows therefrom.
In the end, you can’t MAKE your children behave, because “good behavior” comes from the heart, and you can’t FORCE the motivations of the heart. Parents may be able to COERCE compliant behavior on the outside, . . . but COERCION cannot cause children to obey on the inside! In the end, parents should encourage and invite “obedient behavior” . . . and not merely “compliant behavior” in their children.
The choices are these: You can be a
Sheepherder or a Shepherd.
Two approaches that parallel
Coercive Influence vs. Compassionate Influence:
The Sheepherder uses Coercive approaches. The Sheepherder drives the sheep from behind with sticks of punishment, and harsh verbal commands. The sheep “comply” because they fear the wrath of the sheepherder. The Sheepherder is compulsive and reactive; the sheepherder reacts on impulses of emotion. The sheepherder flies off the handle and dreams up punishments “on the spot” in the heat of anger . . . AS a child’s bad behavior appears. The sheep eventually learn to fear, avoid, and inwardly hate the sheepherder.
The DOWN side of being a Coercive Sheepherder is this: Children will only comply with the “speed limit” while the cop is on the highway . . . and when the cop leaves . . . the children will go any “speed” they want, and act in undisciplined ways, . . . for they have not been taught the law . . . or been shown the “living law” by example.
The Shepherd uses Compassionate approaches. The Shepherd leads the sheep from the front. The Shepherd sets an example of how the sheep should behave from the heart. The Shepherd teaches the sheep the law by which the flock will be governed, and also teaches the attached consequences (as opposed to punishments) that will occur if the law is not obeyed. The sheep learn to love the shepherd, because the shepherd loves them.
The Shepherd is fair and always acts within laws that are clearly established & explained BEFORE a child’s bad behavior appears.
The UP side of being a Compassionate Shepherd is this: There is no need for policing the “speed limit,” . . . for the children have been taught the law and know the value of living with honor; further they “honor” the shepherd because the shepherd loves and trusts them. They know that the shepherd loves them because they see the “living law” in the way they are treated.
To be Shepherds to their children, Mom and Dad need to get on the same page as to the “laws of family,” . . . fair laws that are established for the benefit of the children, . . . peace of mind for the parents, . . . and the order of the household.
Establishing “Family Laws” in a Family Council
When Mom and Dad are on the same page (literally, . . . a page of written expectations, duties, tasks, etc.), then Mom & Dad assemble a family meeting. In the family meeting, instead of “laying down the law” . . . the children are asked for their input on this question:
What can we all do to have a happy, orderly, and peaceful home?
In the family meeting, Mom & Dad discuss with their children the expectations on school homework, times for play, chores to be done, rules of the household, etc. And to help the children see why they need to be contributors to the order of the household, parents might ask these questions:
Who will pay for the food we eat? Who will prepare the food we eat? Who will pay for the roof over our heads? Who will clean the house that we live in?
That Mom & Dad work hard to be providers should NOT be taken for granted by the children. Because the children benefit from food and shelter, they need to be helpful contributors to the orderly & peaceful functioning of the home.
The reason why parents should ask children for their input is guided by a principle:
That which children help create,
they will support.
If Mom & Dad simply “lay down the law,” the children will always perceive that “law” . . . as “Mom & Dad’s law.” In contrast, when children have input and influence on the laws of the household, they will tend to see the governing structure as “The Family Law.” Thus, they will view it as THEIR LAW. they will have ownership of it . . . because they helped create it!
As for “accountability,” when expectations, chores, duties, etc., are agreed upon . . . THEN parents ask their children:
What should be a consequence
IF someone fails to follow through with the family laws?
Within Parent-Child relationships, the most effective consequences are not merely punitive, i.e., going to jail, getting flogged, or being put in “the stocks.” Instead, the best consequences are ones that are mutually agreed upon in a Family Council, and are naturally connected to the behavior that went against “Family Law.”
For example, if a bed is not made in the morning, a connected consequence may be . . . to “make the bed.” But not just that person’s bed, . . . a negotiation can be agreed to . . . that the violator of “bed making” receives the consequence of making everyone’s bed the next morning? When consequences are harder to do . . . than simply following the law in the first place, . . . then those consequences will be an effective learning experience that teach and reinforce obeying the Law from the start.
If parents have deeply ingrained “sheepherder” tendencies . . . then . . . it is a most wise for them to consider “Changing Their Stripes.” For if they don’t change, . . . such parents will “pass on” their unhappy legacy of coercive influence to the next generation.
Becoming the kind of parents that children will love, respect, and honor . . . is an influence that will be felt for decades to come.
When it comes to goal setting . . . beginning with the best goals is essential:
In setting goals, one must realize that not all goals are worth getting. To arrive at the best destination . . . one must begin the journey by moving the correct direction. This idea is addressed in my book:
Beginning Right: Good Questions, Good Answers. To arrive at good answers, we must first ask good questions! When we start with bad questions, we begin wrong . . . and thus, we will most likely end wrong. Asking unsound questions leads to second-class solutions. When our premise is poor, it’s hard to acquire the prize. But the truth is . . . we would not be asking a bad question, if we knew it was bad to begin with, . . . right? The saying goes:
It’s not what you don’t know that makes you a fool;
but what you “think” you know, . . . that ain’t so!
Beginning with a bad assumption is like climbing a ladder leaning against the wrong wall . . . It leads to “progress” . . . that ain’t progress at all! So, to begin right, it is wise to question the question, . . . thoroughly double-checking assumptions before launching into an avenue of inquiry. But how do you know when you’ve got a good question? (Changing Your Stripes, page 157)
Just as entertaining bad questions is a waste of time and energy, setting bad goals is equally unfruitful. When it comes to goal setting for children and young adults, they are especially vulnerable to beginning wrong . . . because they sometimes assume that the “bad examples” in their circle of influence are doing what should be done; and so they follow ill-advised trends and traditions and get their goals from unstable sources.
Every good goal must be weighed against the standards of integrity. An excerpt from my book speaks of the “social pull” to pursue the popular and appealing way, . . . instead of the compassionate and fulfilling way:
